Herpo narrowed his eyes slightly as he studied Voldemort's expression. "You must understand that our plan is extremely important. We absolutely cannot allow any accidents."

"Based on that premise, we must ensure one thing: that his will is sufficiently firm. And this test by the Guardian has given me an idea."

Voldemort raised an eyebrow, his tone carrying a trace of impatience. "What exactly are you trying to say?"

"What I mean is..." Herpo let out a soft breath and lowered his voice. "The Guardian's invitation failed because your servant believed that the so-called 'Limbo' was false."

"Even after the Guardian explained it, your servant still clung to his own view. I believe he came to this understanding because of things he had experienced before."

"He must have made certain attempts in the past, trying to achieve some goal, but all of those attempts failed. That is why he is so full of doubt toward 'Limbo.'"

"In other words, you believe..." Voldemort rested a finger against his lips. "Someone like Severus serves only for tangible rewards?"

"Of course!" Herpo nodded. "As for your servants, I believe they are all incomparably loyal..."

Voldemort's brows rose even higher. "I'm pleased that, as a guest, you have finally learned how to speak to your host."

Herpo drew a breath and tried his best not to dwell on Voldemort's assessment.

Though he struggled to restrain his emotions, he still said calmly, "Since that task is so difficult, then we should show him something!"

"For example, a goal grand enough—or a reward, one he would be willing to gamble everything to obtain."

"Go on!" Voldemort narrowed his eyes slightly. He had to admit that he strongly agreed with Herpo's words.

To him, so-called "love" was far too illusory. A concrete reward was much more effective.
