Fred and George had sent Percy a bag of dragon dung, so they guessed Percy was probably busy determining its exact country of origin.
Hearing about it, Ron frowned and analyzed the matter for a while before finally reaching a conclusion. "Even if we told him it was dragon dung, he'd say it was a fertilizer sample sent over from another country."
Fred and George burst out laughing at Ron's analysis, nearly arousing Mrs. Weasley's suspicion.
Dumbledore was busy praising the delicious strawberry jam, so Mrs. Weasley did not question them further. She merely shot Fred and George a look that seemed to say, "You two behave yourselves."
Ron's analysis and conclusion had not come out of nowhere. Percy was simply far too driven, to the point where he could barely distinguish work from life.
After finishing his own work, Percy would take on everyone else's as well. If he could not finish it at the Ministry of Magic, he would bring it home to complete.
"He probably thinks... he's uncovered some earth-shattering secret," Fred said. "He's always egging us on to guess what huge event is going to happen next."
"I saw words like 'fire dragon' in one of his work reports..." George added. "That was where we got the idea... to send him a bag of dragon dung."
Hearing Fred and George, Ron leaned in and said quietly, "If you ask me... considering Percy's current state..."
"He might not even realize it's your prank... He'll probably just think it's a fertilizer sample sent by some country."
"If that's how you see it..." Fred suddenly understood. "Then Percy's so-called 'big event'..."
"He's probably competing for the 'Best New Assistant' award," George finished. "As for the prize... probably a few days off?"
Ron added, "Then he'd probably withdraw from the
