The "Unstable" Ritual Magic Array

Years ago, Voldemort had designed an unstable form of Bloodline Magic, drawing on alchemical principles, to absorb the soul fragment that was Tom Riddle.

Alchemy often sought harmony and compatibility. Voldemort's Bloodline Magic took the opposite approach, deliberately disrupting that harmony.

"The blood of a pregnant unicorn" and "the flesh and blood of a venomous snake, Runespoor eggs" were tangible, while "memory" was intangible. Combining the three would naturally create discord and conflict.

Alchemy also valued balance and flow. "The blood of a pregnant unicorn" and "the flesh and blood of a venomous snake, Runespoor eggs" were tangible and could flow together;

the "intangible" thread of memory from Voldemort likewise had to flow together with the "intangible" Tom Riddle;

using these two alchemical principles, Voldemort had ultimately completed the absorption, returning the soul fragment that was Tom Riddle to his original body.

Only after studying it had Wizet unraveled the workings behind it;

that was how he could look at the Ritual Magic Array and the "fear" Potions in the helmet and silverware, then conclude that Dumbledore's test had drawn on Voldemort's Bloodline Magic;

Dumbledore was exceptionally skilled in alchemy himself. Tracing that Bloodline Magic back to its alchemical roots should have been even easier for him.

"If the alchemical magic array in this classroom works on the same principle..." Wizet murmured, "the 'intangible' fear comes from the students who enter the room..."

"Then there must be another 'intangible' element for it to 'flow' with..." He raised his wand and gently waved it toward the helmet before him. "Where could it be hidden?"

His guess was right. The other "intangible" element was inside the helmet, wrapped in a Corporeal Patronus hidden within it... likely two of Dumbledore's memories.
