Different Ways to Clear the Level

Terry Boot passing the selection test seemed to have become some sort of signal. After he passed, more students began passing the selection test one after another.

However, the ways these students passed the selection test did not offer much useful reference.

For example, Harry, whose "fear" trial was the Killing Curse, underwent special training with the Blast-Ended Skrewt Flame-Evasion Training Method. With the reflexes he had developed from dodging six Blast-Ended Skrewts, he narrowly completed the "fear" trial.

In the "magical ability" trial, he cast the Disarming Charm and successfully knocked the massive club from the Forest Troll's hand.

Once the Forest Troll lost its club, it became somewhat less dangerous.

After patiently circling it again and again, Harry cast Stupefy several times, each one successfully striking the Forest Troll in the head and further slowing its movements. Only then did he finally pass the selection test.

Some students wanted to try Harry's spell combination, yet they could not even manage the step of "disarming the Forest Troll."

Instead, they took a direct blow from the Forest Troll's club, got hit by the Forest Troll's "Knockout Curse," and immediately withdrew from the selection test.

Neville's "fear" trial was successfully brewing a Boil-Cure Potion despite Snape's every possible attempt to make things difficult for him.

The reason it was a Boil-Cure Potion was probably because, during his first year, he had added Porcupine Quills without moving the cauldron away from the flame. The failed potion had splashed all over him and covered him in boils.

This "fear" trial was not particularly difficult for the current Neville. All he needed to do was cast a Confundus Charm on himself, and no matter how much Snape tried to make things difficult for him, it all went in one ear and out
