October 30th was already late autumn in the Scottish Highlands.
A cold wind slipped in with the night, bringing a low rustling sound as it brushed past their ears. Many students hunched their necks, clearly feeling the chill it carried.
Even as they shrank into themselves, the students continued to look around intently.
Now and then, they looked to the sky; now and then, to the Forbidden Forest; and now and then, to the Black Lake, wondering where the four schools of magic would appear from.
Although Wizet had wrapped a warm scarf around Luna, he still asked worriedly, "Are you cold?"
"No..." Luna gently shook her head, breathed into her hands, and interlaced her fingers with Wizet's. "Right?"
Luna's hand was soft. As usual, her fingertips were slightly cool, while her palm was warmly damp.
"That's good..." Wizet nodded softly.
"You're warm too..." Luna pointed at the scarf around Wizet's neck, which she had helped him put on, then gently swung their joined hands. "I can feel it too!"
Wizet smiled without speaking. He merely shifted his grip, enclosing Luna's hand in his own. He wanted to hold on to the damp warmth of her palm.
The night deepened further, yet there was still no movement around them. Growing bored, the students began whispering among themselves.
Michael Corner looked up at the sky for a while longer, then yawned and asked in a lowered voice, "Who do you think will arrive first? I think it'll probably be Uagadou..."
"Maybe Ilvermorny?"
"Beauxbatons!"
"Then I can only say Durmstrang..."
Since none of the four schools had arrived yet, Anthony and the others simply each named a different school.
Wizet and Luna did not join the discussion. Holding each other's hands, they felt warm all over despite the cold wind.
