No, this wasn't right.
Alexander thought.
This wasn't how it was supposed to go. According to that guy at the tavern, he should first ask her out, and Hilde would politely turn him down. He would show what a gentleman he was by not pestering her. Then a few random, unaffiliated goons would jump out by the roadside and start sexually harassing Hilde. She would be fed up with their harassment but unable to do anything about it, and that was when he would suddenly appear and drive them away, showing off his manly side. Hilde would thank him, and he would seize the opportunity to ask her out again. Blushing furiously, she would accept. On the day of their date, he would stroll through town with Hilde and casually buy her a pretty accessory, then give her the flowers he had prepared in advance. After that, he would tell her she was the most beautiful girl he had ever seen, that there were stars in her eyes, and so on. Once Hilde's heart started fluttering, he would take her straight to an inn, let the mood carry them into bed, and seal the deal...
She wasn't supposed to fly into the sky and throw Rock Lances at him.
"Hey! Hilde!"
Alexander scrambled to dodge the supersonic Rock Lances raining down from above. Each one unleashed a violent shock wave the instant it hit the ground, and the dirt and stones they blasted up left him covered in dust. Though none had struck him directly, he had no room to fight back like this.
"Did you misunderstand something? I said a date! A date!" Alexander shouted.
Hilde said nothing and simply kept throwing Rock Lances.
Boom, boom, boom—
Rock Lances fell from high above like raindrops, coming faster and faster,
