Background
Hilde is Rudeus Greyrat's younger twin sister and, like him, a reincarnator. She retains knowledge of her former life's language and writing but has no memory of her former name, death, or identity. Her only clear recollection is that she came to this world because of “a certain girl.” Hilde and Rudeus agree to conceal their reincarnator status. 2
She developed magic early, but eventually recognized that Rudeus possessed much greater magical aptitude. In contrast, swordsmanship suited her exceptionally well: she learned rapidly under Paul, enjoyed training, and possessed an unusual constitution marked by extreme strength, toughness, and resistance to illness. 5 8
After deciding that strength would let her protect herself and those close to her, Hilde chose the sword over magic. She and Rudeus agreed to pursue the summits of their respective fields. 15 22
Hilde traveled alone to Ars City to enter the Water God Style dojo. Following assessments against Grot, Tantris, Isolte, and Water God Leda Lia, she was accepted as Linus's disciple. 23 25 26 27
Following the Great Teleportation Incident, Hilde encountered Orsted amid the destruction of Fittoa Territory. Although frightened by him and his questions about Hitogami, she chose to travel with him to investigate the disaster and search for her missing family. 100 101 102
Hilde possesses a Laplace Factor, which was confirmed by Perugius's detection circle. Her abnormal physique may be connected to it, though the precise cause remains uncertain. She later learned that her soul is only one-sixth the size of an ordinary person's, explaining both her missing former-life memories and her incomplete sense of identity. 102 111 113 268
Her recurring dreams show a possible future more than ninety years ahead, in which she does not age while Aisha grows old and Rudeus lives a full life before dying of old age. The dreams also provide fragments of advanced combat knowledge, including North God Style techniques. 65 144
Appearance
Hilde is a petite, slender girl with long pale-golden hair and clear water-blue eyes. Her small stature contrasts sharply with her extraordinary physical power. 24 26
- Pale-golden hair reaching her waist. 24
- Water-blue eyes. 24
- Slender build; she considers herself overly skinny and finds it difficult to develop visible muscle. 32
- Usually carries a sword, including a plain sword given to her by Paul on her fifth birthday. 35
- Resembles her mother Zenith closely enough that guards and acquaintances have mistaken her for Zenith at a glance. 154 338
- Ariel noted a resemblance between Hilde and their mutual cousin, Luke Notos Greyrat. 77
- Her Soul Eye is installed in her left eye and manifests as faint white mist within her aqua-blue pupil when activated. 268 293
Personality
Hilde is calm, blunt, and self-assured. She readily mocks Rudeus, physically puts him in his place when he becomes obnoxious, and is often the more composed of the twins. 2 3
Despite her detached manner, she is deeply protective of people she considers hers. She assists Rudeus without hesitation when he asks for help rescuing Eris, seeks aid from the Kruel family when her companions are endangered, and trains to gain the power to protect those around her. 15 37 49
She dislikes owing favors, as shown by her wish to repay Isolte for bread and directions. Hilde is also practical about danger: she distrusts anonymous invitations, judges opponents quickly, and is willing to kill traffickers and assassins without hesitation. 24 35 36 41
Hilde particularly despises group bullying and people who prey on the weak. Although she does not consider herself a good person, this hostility toward cruelty has repeatedly led her to protect others, including Sylphiette. 141 182
Her commitment to protecting loved ones can overwhelm her moral restraint. When Roxy's life appeared to be at stake, Hilde considered kidnapping Cliff and later infiltrated the Grand Cathedral while prepared to kill the Divine Child. 362 363
Abilities & Skills
Swordsmanship
Hilde is a gifted swordswoman trained in the Sword God, Water God, and North God Styles. Her versatility allows her to shift approaches according to the opponent. 17 26
- Uses Sword God Style in direct combat, including against her first monster, a Terminate Boar. 17
- Pursues Water God Style specifically to find an answer to the Sword God Style's seemingly unblockable Light Blade. 21
- Combined North God Style and Sword God Style to defeat Grot and Tantris during her dojo assessment. 26
- Uses Water God Style to parry, redirect force, defend, and counterattack against multiple opponents. 36
- Has not learned battle aura, preventing her from being recognized as an advanced swordswoman despite her physical advantages. 44
- Later learned to wield battle aura after Linus subjected her to intensified physical conditioning and repeated exhaustion training. 54 55
- Reached Water Saint rank and learned a Water God Style ultimate technique before challenging Ghislaine again. 90
- Can use Flow, a Water God Style secret technique that disperses and redirects attacks through battle aura. 144
- Holds the title of North King and has developed personal North God Style techniques, including Blue Silver Overlord Spear. 160 174 267
- Her combat instincts, adaptability, and refusal to yield under severe injury were recognized by Alexander Kalman Rybak as talents suited to carrying on the North God Style. 63
- Continues to develop the Sword God Style's secret techniques under Orsted's guidance. 117
Battle Aura and Dragon God Style
Hilde's exceptional physical constitution makes her particularly suited to Dragon Saint Battle Aura, a Dragon God Style technique that prioritizes defense and lethality over conventional physical enhancement. 117
- First used ordinary battle aura successfully during a spar with Isolte. 55
- Learned Dragon Saint Battle Aura from Orsted with a mana-observation lens that allowed her to visualize the flow of mana through her body. 117
- Can form invisible battle-aura armor over her body, allowing her to withstand attacks that would normally harm even battle-aura users. 176
- Her Dragon Saint Battle Aura grants defensive power comparable to that of gifted races such as Dragons and Immortals, while also greatly empowering her punches and kicks. 177 178
- Uses unarmed techniques inspired by her future self, which she refers to as “Fighting God Style.” 178
- Can conduct Dragon Saint Battle Aura through Silver Dragon Armor to reinforce its defenses and assist its flight capability. 395
Superhuman Constitution
Hilde possesses an unexplained abnormal constitution that grants exceptional strength, stamina, toughness, and resistance to illness and injury. Its limits became clear after Leda severely wounded her. 8 26 28
- Could cut stone despite imperfect sword form because of her raw strength. 7
- Can withstand blows that would seriously injure ordinary fighters. 36
- Endured extensive physical training in heavy armor better than Isolte. 31
- Fought multiple armed opponents while exhausted, often trading injury for injury. 42 45
- Is not immune to pain or invulnerable; severe injuries can incapacitate her and require healing. 27 46
- Her body does not age normally in the future shown by her dreams, though the cause of this anomaly remains unresolved. 65
- Perugius's Laplace Factor detection circle reacted to her, confirming that she has been affected by a Laplace Factor. 111
- Her physique is exceptionally compatible with Dragon Saint Battle Aura because it does not require the physical reinforcement upon which ordinary humans depend. 117
Blessed Child Ability
Hilde is identified as a Blessed Child, though the exact nature of her ability initially remained unknown. 113
- Her ability is believed to make wounds she inflicts impossible to heal normally. 113
- Kishirika specifically considered the Soul Eye particularly compatible with Hilde's Blessed Child ability. 186
- Hilde's Soul Eye allows her to observe souls, including unborn children and the abnormal condition of fragmented souls. 268 293
Magic
Hilde is capable of chantless magic and uses magic as support for swordsmanship, though her magical growth lagged behind Rudeus's. 5 13
- Casts water magic without incantations. 2 5
- Can use chantless healing magic. 13
- Used intermediate healing magic on her own injuries. 36
- Used intermediate detoxification magic to treat Rudeus after his abduction. 37
- Has attempted to integrate magic into swordsmanship, with effective but imperfect results. 13
- Learned advanced healing magic from Roxy and can reattach severed limbs and fingers. 199
- Uses earth magic to create and manipulate Rock Lances, including launching them with physical force during combat. 144 183
- Repaired an ancient teleportation magic circle and acquired extensive knowledge of teleportation and summoning magic from Laplace's laboratory. 268 282
- Began seeking Perugius's guidance in magic intended to support her swordsmanship in large-scale combat. 376 382 384
- Can use flight magic and aerial maneuvering, including during stealth operations. 362
