Shen Jin sat at the stone table beneath the ancient pine, cradling a cup of hot tea. The tea had just been brewed, and steam curled upward through the cold morning air.

His longsword leaned against the stone table, the leather on its scabbard polished bright from decades of repeated handling.

Just as he raised the cup to his lips, his personal terminal suddenly vibrated.

He set down the cup and glanced at the screen. Then his entire body froze.

The screen displayed an encrypted notice from the Supreme Council. Its contents were only three short lines:

"Federation Supreme Council Notice: Grandmaster Xu Wuyi entered Divine Intent through independent cultivation in Linjiang City this morning. Xu Wuyi, twenty-six years old, has advanced to Divine Intent. This has been personally confirmed by the individual, recorded by his personal Smart Brain Anna, and verified as true."

Shen Jin stared at those three lines for a long time.

Twenty-six.

Divine Intent.

Half a month ago, he had fought this young man on Battle Net.

At the time, Xu Wuyi had still been at the Domain level. Though his body had been absurdly powerful, enough for him to fight Shen Jin, whose energy level had been suppressed, to a standstill, he had still fundamentally been a Domain-level martial artist. He had not crossed that threshold.

Half a month.

He had needed only half a month to go from the peak of the Domain level to Divine Intent.

In Federation history, how many years had those Grandmasters who entered Divine Intent needed, on average, from first touching the threshold to truly crossing it? Three years? Five years?

Some had even lingered before that threshold for ten or twenty years, only barely crossing it when their lifespan was nearly exhausted.
