Pitt the Younger, master of finance
Upon hearing this, George III leaned back in his chair.
Ireland's economy is heavily reliant on agriculture, or more precisely, on the sale of grain to the Great Britain.
If cheap Grain from the German Territories flooded into the United Kingdom Prussia would still be in the early stages of Serfs reforms, and farming costs would be outrageously low. Ireland tenant farmers would soon go bankrupt, leading to the Finance collapse of the entire Ireland.
This may be the key to a complete solution to the troubling Ireland question.
That damned Ireland Parliament will be gone forever, anti-British riots will never happen again, and Ireland will truly become part of the British Empire.
In comparison, the slight complaints of the United Kingdom landowners were not worth worrying about at all.
It's worth noting that in the past, attempts to abolish Grain price controls would inevitably face fierce opposition from the United Kingdom landowners' representatives in Parliament, ultimately preventing the bill from passing.
Now that there is a reason to deal with the threat from the European Continent, anyone who opposes it is considered an enemy of the nation.
"We could appropriately lower the price cap on Grain," the King United Kingdom, then looked at Pitt the Younger. "But isn't opening up Colony markets a bit too risky?"
United Kingdom's core strategy for maintaining industrial competitiveness and generating huge profits was to acquire cheap raw materials from its overseas Colony and then dump its goods there.
Allowing countries like Putin and Austria to enter could have a fatal impact on the United Kingdom.
Pitt the Younger explained, "Your Majesty, if you want to form a Trade Coalition that includes Prussia and Austria to counter France, you must offer attractive terms."
"And the Colony market is precisely that temptation."
"In reality, opening up the Colony would not have had too serious an impact on our country."
"Prussian and Austrian industrial products are not very competitive compared to ours; at most, they can only sell some crude and cheap goods to the Colony. At the same time, our country has a huge maritime advantage. The number of their merchant ships determines that their sales volume cannot be too large."
"As for raw materials, we can maintain a large monopoly by signing long-term purchase agreements in advance."
"We don't need this Trade Coalition to last too long; 10 to 15 years will be enough."
"We can change the trade rules at any time if we can defeat France."
"A huge market involving England Prussia Austria, Austria, and even Russia is irresistibly attractive to the German States and even the countries of Northern Italy, thus preventing them from completely aligning with the France trade system."
"Preventing France from successfully integrating into the European Continent trade market is an important supplementary means of increasing the effectiveness of military expenditures."
George III pondered for a long time before finally standing up and saying only, "Alright, go back now. Go about your business."
Pitt the Younger paused for a moment.
He had a whole host of things to report to the King, including strategies for Eastern Europe, the Americas, and naval development, but he only got to the beginning before the audience was about to end?
However, he quickly realized what was happening and bowed as he withdrew.
King Majesty is indicating that he is not entirely supportive of this adventure, but is still entrusting the future of the United Kingdom to himself.
Around noon, the British Prime Minister's Carriage stopped in front of 10 Downing Street.
Second Minister of Finance George Ross, who had clearly been waiting for some time, came forward. Before Pitt the Younger could even get out of the car, Ross hastily raised his hat in a curt bow and said anxiously, "I heard from the Bank of England that you've asked them to prepare Pound Sterling 8 million in Paper Money— "
Pitt the Younger quickly stopped him with a look and gestured towards his office. "This is not a topic for public discussion."
Once inside, Ross slammed the door shut and said urgently again, "Although the Finance situation isn't great, 8 million pounds—even if we're going to issue more, it shouldn't be concentrated in one go; it should at least be spread out gradually over two years—"
Pitt the Younger raised his hand to interrupt him, "Don't be nervous. This is only part of it. There should be another one next year, possibly on a larger scale."
"You're—" Ross almost blurted out "You've gone mad."
Pitt the Younger. sighed, "Our allies need sufficient military spending to contend with the France."
Ross was aware of the Prime Minister's "protracted war" plan, but he still strongly advised against it, "But this is too large a scale. You know, prices have risen by more than 20% in the last two years. If such a large sum of money is printed again, there will be riots in the country!"
"I know." Pitt the Younger held up two fingers. "First, I will announce next month that banks will gradually resume the direct exchange of Pound Sterling for gold in ten years."
"As you know, the most important thing for financial markets is confidence."
"Most people will maintain their confidence as long as they can see hope. This will greatly enhance the Purchasing Power of the Pound Sterling."
"Secondly, the vast majority of this money was used to aid Prussia and Austria, and it would not flow back to the United Kingdom for a considerable period of time."
"About half of these Paper Money will circulate within the two countries and will not affect our market. This will be stipulated in the aid agreement."
"The money used to purchase our country's goods first goes into banks. Guild advise merchants to use a portion of it to buy Government Bonds or convert it into high-interest savings."
"As you know, war leads to increased demand for supplies, resulting in the production of large quantities of military supplies. These supplies will become the benchmark for Paper Money, thus suppressing Inflation."
Ross couldn't help but swallow.
This is a tightrope walk; a single misstep could send United Kingdom's Finance Abyss into a rapid collapse.
"But this can only cope with a short-term oversupply of currency; in the future—"
"The war will end eventually," Pitt the Younger said calmly. "The member states of the Commercial Alliance Congress dilute tens of millions of Pound Sterling in currency."
"Starting next month, I will announce a brand new Taxation reform plan."
This could increase our Finance by Pound Sterling 7 to £8 million annually.
