Women vying for affection
When Alexandra learned that her co-star was the Crown Prince of France, her large eyes immediately sparkled.
She had always idolized the Crown Prince, who had invented the "great wonders" of the carousel, Ferris Wheel, and Pirate Ship. He had also transformed a spoiled brat like Uncle Alexei into a highly accomplished gentleman, and so handsome at that! The fact that she was going to act alongside him was like a dream!
She puffed out her chest and said in a childish voice, "Your Highness, please rest assured, I have studied recitation and physical performance, I will definitely be able to play Anne well!"
Seeing her extremely earnest expression, Joseph couldn't bear to dampen the little one's enthusiasm, so he smiled and nodded, saying, "It's an honor to perform on the same stage as you."
He doesn't care who he acts with, as long as it promotes Synthetic Board Furniture and Soda drinks. And having a Russia Grand Duchess as the lead might even help tap into the Russia market.
Upon hearing this, Alexandra grinned happily, but suddenly her expression froze. She hurriedly covered her mouth with her hand, moved to the side, turned her back, and poked around in her mouth for a while before finally letting out a sigh of relief, clutching her chest.
That was close! My dentures almost fell out!
She's at the age where she's losing her baby teeth, and she has two gaps in her front teeth. For this role as the female lead, she specially spent a lot of money to have two dentures made. However, the denture technology of this era was very poor, and there was a risk of them falling out if she moved even slightly, just like what happened earlier.
In contrast to Alexandra's happiness, the other Nobility ladies participating in the performance all looked at the troupe leader with gloomy expressions.
They learned from the Queen's maids that the Crown Prince was to play Hunter Xiao, so they went to great lengths to get into the troupe through connections, hoping to get closer to His Highness by playing the lead role.
Who would have thought that today, a Russia girl would suddenly appear and steal the lead role from her! And seeing how polite His Crown Prince was to her, she was filled with resentment.
Seeing that things were going badly, the troupe leader quickly shrank back and made a hasty retreat.
Joseph, completely oblivious to the tense atmosphere among the actresses, was focused on directing several Servant to carry a large ivory bookcase onto the stage.
After adjusting the bookshelf, he picked up the script and started flipping through it again:
"Hmm, this needs a change. We need to add a paragraph here..."
Soon, the actors all received the revised script, and after reading it, strange looks appeared on their faces. But since it was revised by His Crown Prince, a Nobility lady immediately exclaimed in praise:
"What a brilliant change! It instantly makes the original drama shine like the sun!"
"Indeed! Your Highness's literary talent is simply unparalleled in Paris!"
"Oh, Your Highness, I absolutely love this revised line—'Cool down this summer, enjoy the pleasant time. My favorite Paris Cola...'"
The Nobility turned to the people around her in surprise halfway through her reading, and whispered, "Do you know what this means?"
"Uh, I don't know either..."
Joseph quickly coughed to interrupt their awkward boasting, "Well, everyone, let's memorize our lines and start rehearsing."
On stage, a petite figure held up a purple medicine bottle and waved it dismissively at the Nobility in front of her:
"I've already prepared a ' Decomposition Potion,' and your ' Sleeping Mixture ' has been decomposed before it even took effect."
The man, his face full of resentment, opened his backpack, ready to retaliate with another potion, when he suddenly saw His Crown Prince wink at him.
He quickly reviewed the script, grabbed Glass beverage bottle from a bystander, tilted his head back, took a large gulp, and then exaggeratedly clenched his fist and swung his elbow downwards:
"Paris Cola, you give me confidence! Anne Xun'er, my sixth-level Alchemy will end this duel."
Joseph then waved to the onlookers, signaling them to make way for the luxurious bookshelves behind them...
Although Alexandra is young, her performance is quite convincing, especially in the scene where she competes in Alchemy —she sees duels all the time in Russia, so she can easily imitate them.
Moreover, her product placement scenes were the most natural because she hadn't read the original novel and assumed that's how the plot should be. Therefore, she didn't have the awkwardness that other actors had when inserting product placements. As a result, she received repeated praise from Joseph, who then asked the other actors to learn from her how to do product placement.
Several Nobility ladies immediately rolled their eyes at the little girl, and taking advantage of Joseph's inattention, they spoke sarcastically in a voice that Alexandra could just barely hear:
"Heh, His Highness was just being polite to her. Look at how smug she is."
"He's just a Russia bumpkin, what does he know about Drama?"
"I don't know whose connections she used to squeeze into the theater troupe; it probably cost her a lot of money."
The little girl politely ignored them and turned back to continue rehearsing.
If these people knew that she had gotten involved through Her Majesty the Queen, and that not only did she not spend any money, but the Queen had also gifted her several dresses, they would probably be horrified.
When Alexandra was acting opposite "Anne Scent" and the eldest daughter of the family, "Katarina Shaw," she had just taken two steps forward when a Nobility playing a bystander suddenly stuck her foot out.
Alexandra was about to trip over that foot, but luckily she reacted very quickly. When she caught sight of the shadow under her feet, she immediately prepared to step over it, but then she remembered the insults those people had just said to her.
She immediately pulled her foot back and stomped hard on the dark figure in front of her.
The red leather boots stomped hard on the stocking-covered ankle, eliciting a scream of pain.
"Ah--"
The scheming Nobility knelt on the ground in pain, clutching her right foot and gasping for breath.
Several Nobility ladies immediately surrounded her, feigning to comfort her, before turning their menacing gaze towards Alexandra:
"You've really gone too far!"
"Triss's foot bones were likely broken. How could you be so cruel?"
"Look what you've done! Apologize to Miss Triss immediately!"
Alexandra also came closer, carefully examined the woman's feet that had ambushed her, and looked relieved.
"Luckily I'm lightweight, otherwise you really would have broken your leg. Elian always taught me that I must maintain proper posture when standing. You see, sticking your leg out casually is not only impolite, but you might also get stepped on."
The Nobility ladies were taken aback, not expecting that this little Russia girl would not only be fearless but also so sharp in her criticism of them.
A Nobility immediately looked towards Joseph and said in a tearful voice:
"Your Highness, you saw it all. The Russia Grand Duchess deliberately stepped on Triss and tried to humiliate her..."
