Background

House Malfoy originated in France. Its founder, Armand Malfoy I, came to Britain in 1066 as William the Conqueror’s close adviser and gained extensive land, servants, and wealth. Despite this prosperity, the family’s direct line passed through a single branch for centuries. 209

The family’s traditional principles are described as “survival above all,” “profit above all,” and never putting all its eggs in one basket. This pragmatism allowed the Malfoys to repeatedly preserve themselves during political upheavals, including by distancing themselves from Voldemort after the First Wizarding War. 20 21 122

By Lucius II’s generation, the family had accumulated considerable political and commercial power.
