Background / History
Wu Zhangkong serves as the teacher of East Sea Academy's first-year Zero Class. Known for his punctuality, he personally brings Li Moxun into the classroom and introduces him as a new student, having recognized the exceptional potential of Li Moxun's Titan Snow Demon King martial soul and dual ultimate attributes. He also arranges Li Moxun's dormitory placement. 2
After Li Moxun gravely injures Wang Jinxi in their duel, Wu Zhangkong supports the school’s handling of the incident. When Wang Jinxi’s parents attempt to pressure the academy for greater compensation, he releases his six soul rings, threatens them with his Frost Sword, and orders that Wang Jinxi receive a demerit and transfer away. 5 He later defends this decision to Director Long Hengxu, arguing that Li Moxun’s talent and conduct give no reason for the student to be bullied. 6
He conducts regular practical-combat training for Zero Class, including exercises in which the entire class fights him. During Li Moxun’s first such session, Wu Zhangkong tests the new student seriously and is impressed by his ability to contest the Frost Sword’s ice power and destroy its manifested forms with Ice Prison Fist. 6 7 Li Moxun’s initial display of two hundred-thousand-year rings astonishes him; during the subsequent Spirit Ascension Platform visit, he closely observes the student and relaxes when Li Moxun presents his rings as thousand-year rings instead. 6 10
Following the supernatural incident surrounding Tang Wulin and Gu Yue, Wu Zhangkong investigates but cannot determine what occurred. He remains concerned over Tang Wulin’s unexplained condition and the powerful presences involved. 17 19 Although he is the Tang Sect member closest to the incident, he has no way of establishing its cause. 19 When Li Moxun returns after four months away, Wu Zhangkong chooses not to pry into the student’s private opportunity, instead urging him to be prepared and to live up to the strength he has shown. 29
After Li Moxun overwhelms Tang Wulin and Xie Xie in a training match, Wu Zhangkong orders Gu Yue and Xu Xiaoyan to join the battle, turning the assessment into a four-on-one confrontation. He subsequently carries the seriously injured Tang Wulin and Xie Xie to receive treatment. 31 32 After Tang Wulin is later injured in a terrorist attack, Wu Zhangkong accompanies the bandaged student into class, reassures the others that he is safe, and resumes lessons. 40 In a later rematch, he agrees to fight at the strength of a Third-Ring Soul Master. Although Zero Class successfully uses coordinated control and Li Moxun’s amplified Ice Prison Fist to send him flying, Wu Zhangkong admits their success before raising his limit to the Fourth Ring for the next exchange. 42
Wu Zhangkong confirms Zero Class’s selection for the Tianhai Alliance Grand Competition and leads the students toward Skysea City. During the journey, he is unable to intervene when Leng Yaozhu, a peak Super Douluo, pursues Li Moxun from the soul train; afterward, he warns the class to remain focused on safely reaching their destination. 43 47 48
Though Li Moxun does not share the usual admiration for Shrek Academy, Wu Zhangkong agrees to use his personal Shrek connections to obtain him an opportunity to enter the Shrek Academy Youth Class. Doing so requires Wu Zhangkong to set aside the pride and painful history associated with his prior departure from Shrek Academy. 51 53 His earlier break with Shrek was connected to Long Bing, for whose sake he had been willing to betray the academy. 51 He arranges an evening sparring opportunity with the visiting Shrek students and reunites with Shen Yi, who has received his request through Zhuo Shi. During Li Moxun’s confrontation with Yu Tianlong, Wu Zhangkong’s calm gaze dissuades Shen Yi from interrupting, and both teachers witness the exceptional power of Li Moxun’s Mysterious Ice Armor. 54 56
Following the investigation into Leng Yaozhu’s death, Wu Zhangkong is among those examined before the group is allowed to leave. 70 Three years later, he reunites cordially with Li Moxun in Shrek City after maintaining correspondence with him by letter. 79 During their correspondence, Li Moxun had openly informed him of his conflict with Cai Yue’er. Wu Zhangkong offered to come to Shrek Academy earlier, but Li Moxun declined. After returning with the other students, Wu Zhangkong introduces Li Moxun and Gu Yue to Zhuo Shi as their master ancestor. 82
When students under his supervision participate in a spiritual siege against Li Moxun, Wu Zhangkong reacts with intense anger after learning how dangerous a spiritual death could have been for his student. He detains Xu Yucheng, Luo Guixing, Wu Siduo, and the other participants for punishment, disregarding Wu Siduo’s protests and summoning enforcers to keep them contained. 99 100 After the Sea God Pavilion’s response, he informs Li Moxun that Luo Guixing and Xu Yucheng have suffered crippling spiritual injuries, will need to suspend their studies for years, and will likely lose their places at Shrek Academy. 102
As an Outer Court teacher, Wu Zhangkong continues to protect Li Moxun from unnecessary hostility. When Li Moxun publicly states that he likes Gu Yue and is pursuing her, Wu Zhangkong prohibits the class from spreading rumors about the matter. 120 During Li Moxun’s later disappearance, Wu Zhangkong and Shen Yi jointly submit a report warning that he may have encountered danger and requesting an immediate search. Their repeated appeals persuade the reluctant Zhuo Shi to support an emergency Sea God Pavilion meeting. 141 After Li Moxun returns from the disappearance reportedly involving an Evil Soul Master, Wu Zhangkong’s concern is evident; he resumes his regular instruction, teaches the class about Battle Armor and mecha, and warns them that the upcoming final examination will prohibit external assistance. 148
A week before the examination, Wu Zhangkong reiterates that Soul Tools, money, and other supplies are forbidden. He subsequently helps organize the students when Zhuo Shi formally opens the examinations. By this time, he is nearing the Eight-Ring Soul Douluo stage. 178 181
After the break, Wu Zhangkong formally announces the selection process for Shrek Academy’s delegation to the Star Luo Empire’s Soul Master Tournament. A seven-person team is to be chosen through a contest pitting the combined first and second years against the third year, with the selected team also becoming the reserve Shrek Seven Monsters. 200 He later announces the expedition roster: Li Moxun, Xu Xiaoyan, Ye Xinglan, Xu Lizhi, Gu Yue, Mo Yu, and Yuanen Yehui. He notices Tang Wulin’s face turn pale at the announcement and pauses before continuing. 208
Appearance
Wu Zhangkong is a young-looking man who typically carries himself with a cold, stern demeanor.
- Commonly keeps both hands in his pockets when entering class. 2
- Wields the Frost Sword, also referred to as the Skyfrost Sword, which can transform into a heavy frost greatsword through his third soul skill. 5 6 42
- Possesses six soul rings during his initial appearances, including a black ten-thousand-year ring. 5
- Wore blue pajamas patterned with little yellow ducks when Zero Class challenged him to a nighttime rematch. 41 42
- Maintains his familiar stern posture and hands-in-pockets manner even while teaching advanced Battle Armor and mecha theory at Shrek Academy. 148
Personality
Wu Zhangkong is concise, disciplined, and demanding in his teaching. He wastes little time in class, gives direct instructions, and emphasizes practical combat and honest evaluation of his students’ weaknesses. 2 13 30
Though outwardly cold, he is notably protective of his students. He directly confronts adults who try to exploit Li Moxun and refuses to let a gifted student be bullied. 5 6 He is also perceptive and respectful of personal boundaries: despite suspecting Li Moxun has found an important opportunity during his leave, he deliberately declines to interrogate him. 29
Wu Zhangkong is capable of recognizing his students’ progress without sacrificing discipline. After the Zero Class members exploit his self-imposed Third-Ring restriction to land a successful hit, he frankly acknowledges their achievement while immediately adjusting the next challenge to the Fourth Ring. 42 His dedication to Li Moxun is strong enough for him to seek assistance from his Shrek Academy teacher despite the personal difficulty of returning to Shrek. 51 53
His protectiveness can become severe when he believes his students have acted maliciously. Learning that several students endangered Li Moxun through a spiritual ambush, he refuses to excuse their injuries or pleas for immediate treatment and forcibly keeps them for punishment. 99 100
He also takes a firm stance against social pressure directed at his students. He forbids gossip concerning Li Moxun and Gu Yue’s relationship, while privately recognizing Tang Wulin’s distress over the matter. 120 His concern for Li Moxun remains pronounced after the latter’s later disappearance and return, even if he expresses it through continued discipline and instruction rather than open sentimentality. 148 During the disappearance itself, he persistently advocates for a search rather than accepting the academy’s initial indifference. 141
Despite his strictness, Wu Zhangkong generally avoids unnecessary interference in students’ private affairs and ordinary internal conflicts, provided they obey his classroom rules and do not engage in prohibited schemes. His restraint makes him popular with the class, particularly among the girls, who appreciate the privacy his teaching style permits. He also ends classes on time rather than prolonging his lectures. 148
Abilities & Skills
Soul Emperor Cultivation
Wu Zhangkong initially appears as a six-ring Soul Emperor whose released soul rings include a ten-thousand-year black ring. 5 He reached this realm in his twenties, but his cultivation subsequently stagnated for years because of heartbreak. - He remains able to defeat Li Moxun in a direct exchange despite Li Moxun’s extraordinary two-ring talent. 7

- He can release powerful spiritual pressure alongside his frost-sword power to suppress injured students. 99 100

- While limiting his cultivation to the Third Ring, he can still use the Skyfrost Sword and his ice-based second soul skill to counter Zero Class. 42
- He can manifest a massive frost sword while exerting spiritual pressure against students who defy his discipline. 99 100

Relationships
- Li Moxun — Teacher and student. Wu Zhangkong admits Li Moxun to Zero Class because of his rare martial soul and attributes, protects him during the dispute with Wang Jinxi’s parents, and later respects his decision to pursue his own path. 2 5 29 He supports Li Moxun’s effort to enter Shrek Academy by requesting help through his teacher, remains in contact with him through letters for three years, and fiercely punishes students who endanger Li Moxun in a spiritual siege. 51 53 79 99 100 During their correspondence, he learns about Li Moxun’s conflict with Cai Yue’er and offers to return to Shrek earlier to help, an offer Li Moxun refuses. 82 He later informs Li Moxun of the severe consequences faced by Luo Guixing and Xu Yucheng, prevents classmates from spreading rumors about Li Moxun and Gu Yue, and remains visibly worried during Li Moxun’s later disappearance. 102 120 148 He and Shen Yi report the disappearance and repeatedly appeal for action, helping persuade Zhuo Shi to support an emergency meeting. 141 Li Moxun, despite his hostility toward Shrek Academy as an institution, includes Wu Zhangkong among the individuals he intends to save because he remembers those who have aided him. 150
- Tang Wulin — Student. Wu Zhangkong is concerned when Tang Wulin falls into an unexplained deep sleep after the events involving Gu Yue. 19 He continues to assess Tang Wulin in practical combat and personally takes him for treatment after Li Moxun severely injures him during their class battle. 31 32 He later accompanies Tang Wulin into class after the latter is injured in a terrorist attack and reassures his classmates. 40 He also quietly sympathizes with Tang Wulin’s jealousy and distress after Li Moxun publicly pursues Gu Yue. 120 When announcing the Star Luo Empire roster, he notices Tang Wulin’s pale reaction and pauses before continuing. 208
- Gu Yue — Student. He praises her Spirit Ascension Platform performance and later pairs her with Li Moxun for team-combat training. 13 30 He also orders her to join Tang Wulin, Xie Xie, and Xu Xiaoyan in their four-on-one assessment against Li Moxun. 31 He later announces her inclusion in the Star Luo Empire delegation. 208

He introduces her to Li Moxun and initially has her observe the team battle because her abilities are not especially suited to combat. 30 He subsequently orders her to join the fight against Li Moxun and later brings her with the others to Shrek Academy’s entrance examination. 31 79 He announces her selection for the Star Luo Empire delegation. 208

- Zhuo Shi — Teacher and master. Zhuo Shi is Wu Zhangkong’s teacher, making Li Moxun and the other students Zhuo Shi’s grand-disciples by association. 82 Wu Zhangkong’s status as Zhuo Shi’s disciple also lends authority to his command over Outer Court enforcers. 100 Zhuo Shi considers Wu Zhangkong more talented than Shen Yi and attributes his years of stalled cultivation to heartbreak. 105 Despite Zhuo Shi’s reluctance to act over Li Moxun’s disappearance, repeated appeals from Wu Zhangkong and Shen Yi persuade him to support an emergency meeting. 141
