Background / History
Xie Xie was a member of Eastsea Academy's first-year Zero Class alongside Tang Wulin and Gu Yue. After Li Moxun joined the class, Xie Xie participated in practical-combat training against Wu Zhangkong and later ate with the reduced four-person class group following Wang Jinxi and Zhang Yangzi's departure. 6 9
Following Li Moxun's four-month absence, Xie Xie displayed open hostility toward him alongside Tang Wulin. He and Tang Wulin initially tried to challenge Li Moxun in a two-on-one duel, but Li Moxun's third-ring strength forced Wu Zhangkong to expand the fight to four against one. 30 31 He later transitioned with his peers to Shrek Academy, where he participated in group activities such as challenging the Soul Beast Tower 126, and defended Gu Yue against rumors circulating in class 119.
Although Xie Xie initially remained one of Li Moxun's harshest critics, his attitude gradually softened after Li Moxun carried the team through the Soul Beast Tower. He recognized that Tang Wulin had missed a valuable opportunity by not joining the expedition and later attended Li Moxun's birthday banquet with a carefully prepared gift and a sincere, if awkward, greeting. 127 135 He continued traveling with the first-year group as they prepared for the Soul Beast Tower again before Shrek Academy's final examination. 178
Personality
Xie Xie is confident in his own fighting ability, a trait Wu Zhangkong identified as a weakness shared with Tang Wulin. 13 He is direct in expressing dislike, particularly toward Li Moxun, but does not ignore obvious unfairness: when Shrek Academy students blamed Li Moxun for severely injuring Ye Xinglan in a duel she initiated, Xie Xie openly defended him. 54 55 He is fiercely protective of his peers against outside disrespect, quickly stepping up to reprimand classmates spreading rumors about Gu Yue 119.
His animosity toward Li Moxun has diminished into a mixture of gratitude, competitiveness, and youthful pride. Though he remained too stubborn and embarrassed to reconcile openly, he acknowledged Li Moxun's generosity during the Soul Beast Tower expedition and made an effort to celebrate his birthday. 127 135 By contrast, his formerly close companionship with Tang Wulin had become increasingly strained and distant. 148
