He is observant, fair-minded, and willing to revise his views when presented with evidence. Ning Yuan's thousand-year first soul ring convinces him that Yu Xiaogang's established theory is wrong, and he publicly rebukes a teacher for suppressing Ning Yuan's dissent. 19

Bibi Dong assigns Yue Guan to oversee Ning Yuan's foundational cultivation and entry into Spirit Hall Academy after evaluating Venom's unusual consciousness and potential danger. 4 Yue Guan introduces Ning Yuan to his new private courtyard and answers his questions about Spirit Hall without putting on the airs of a Titled Douluo. 5

Yan's Challenge

Yue Guan observes Yan's duel with Ning Yuan from the sidelines. Familiar with Yan's superior resources, spirit-ring configuration, and physical training, he expects Ning Yuan to lose; Ning Yuan's one-punch victory instead leaves him questioning what kind of “monster” the child is. 7 8

Second Soul Ring Hunt

After Ning Yuan defeats Yan, Yue Guan offers to escort him to Star Dou Forest for a second soul ring. 9 Although alarmed by Ning Yuan's decision to absorb a nearly ten-thousand-year Human-Faced Demon Spider ring, he kills the spider and remains ready to intervene during the absorption. 10 11

When the Qingyuan Village mission is reclassified as high-risk due to possible Holy Soul Cult involvement, Yue Guan immediately dispatches support and arrives ahead of it himself. 16 After hearing the group's report, he recognizes the threat posed by the cult's enhanced synthetic soul beasts and returns to Spirit City to inform Bibi Dong. 16

Yue Guan intervenes when a teacher punishes Ning Yuan for challenging Yu Xiaogang's first-ring age-limit theory. He confirms Ning Yuan is correct, condemns the teacher for clinging to outdated theories and suppressing students, and has him demoted to sweeping the academy gates. 19

He later explores Ning Yuan's proposal that plant-type martial souls should be nourished internally like living plants. By allowing his chrysanthemum martial soul to take root in his body, Yue Guan reaches rank 96 and achieves a major improvement in physical constitution. 20 22
