Background

Xie Yue is one of Spirit Hall's Golden Generation alongside his younger sister Hu Liena and Yan. Before Ning Yuan's arrival, Bibi Dong had considered appointing him Holy Son, but Xie Yue had declined the opportunity. 5 27

Xie Yue visits Ning Yuan's residence with Hu Liena and Yan to meet the academy's newly arrived genius. He remains the most composed of the three, introduces Yan, and remembers the group's purpose when Hu Liena becomes unusually enthusiastic about Ning Yuan. 5

He observes Ning Yuan's scheduled duel against Yan, expecting Yan's superior rank, soul-ring configuration, and training to decide the match. Ning Yuan's one-punch victory overturns that assessment; Xie Yue identifies that Ning Yuan used no Soul Power in the strike. 7 8

During the contest for Spirit Hall's Holy Son title, Xie Yue voluntarily challenges Ning Yuan despite his usual indifference toward status. He identifies Ning Yuan as a formidable opponent and formally promises to fight at full strength. 27
