"Myriad Calamities Daoist-"
"That old devil, Myriad Calamities-"
News of the battle at Wuwang Peak thundered across the world, startling countless faiths and sects. How could the Nine Tribulations Chan Monastery not have heard?
Within a magnificent Buddhist hall, an elderly monk with long, snow-white eyebrows fingered his prayer beads and sighed heavily. "Above Subtlety, the fourth layer of force transformation is actually that wondrous? Even Grandmasters have no power to resist him?
"It truly beggars belief."
This white-browed old monk was Chan Master Yandao, who had stormed into the Vajra Temple and taken Dharma King Baosheng away.
Incense filled the hall. Besides Yandao, four other monks sat or stood within, all eminent monks of the Yan generation.
Given the Nine Tribulations Chan Monastery's standing as Great Yin's state monastery, Yandao and the others held positions above even many imperial relatives and nobles. Younger princes had to offer them full ceremonial obeisance.
Of course, not every monk of the Yan generation received such treatment.
This was, after all, a world of extraordinary power. An individual's status was inevitably tied to their strength.
Naturally, the Yan generation consisted of more than these few monks. Yet even with the Nine Tribulations Chan Monastery's profound foundations, Divine Arts, wondrous methods, and abundant resources, not just anyone could stand at the summit.
Yandao and the others were the victors of that contest among their peers. As for their fellow disciples, some had died or suffered injuries in conflicts, some had fallen along the paths of the Pill Path, Astral Body, or True Art, and some had stalled in the Force Art, fading into obscurity-
Some among them had cultivated more diligently and possessed greater talent than Yandao and his companions. Yet lacking a little opportunity and luck, they had left the stage in desolation.
