History

Hong Yuan adopts the name Myriad Calamities Daoist while concealing his identity at Vajra Temple. He seeks its True Arts because they can improve his Root Bone. The name reflects his intention to displace established powers and gain the strength and authority needed to claim Taisui Blessed Land 119 120.

At Vajra Temple, he fights the temple’s masters and the invading Red Lotus Cult rather than siding with either faction. He kills Qingjing and Huitong, subdues other opponents, and obtains copies of the temple’s martial teachings. His victory makes the previously unknown Daoist famous across the martial world 122 124 127.

At Wuwang Peak, a Yinshan Sect plot draws numerous fighters into attacking him. His overwhelming response gives rise to the fearful name Old Devil of Ten Thousand Tribulations. His identity as Hong Yuan, the Divine Prison Spear Lord, is later exposed at the Qionghua Martial Assembly 158 160 172.

After defeating the Void God Cult Master, he establishes the Myriad Calamities Path and invites martial artists to join. His campaign against Great Yin leads to its fall and the creation of the Myriad Calamities Dao Court. He leaves much of the new government’s administration to his subordinates while pursuing cultivation and knowledge of other worlds 177 192.
