Background / History

Lin Ya is Emperor Xue Ye’s fifth son and Xue Beng’s twin brother; both were born to one of Xue Ye’s secondary consorts, who died shortly after their birth. To protect Lin Ya from palace intrigue, Prince Xue Xing conceals his identity and raises him outside the imperial court. Xue Xing secretly oversees his martial-soul awakening out of concern for his safety and identity. 3 15 70

Lin Ya is a reincarnator from another world and possesses knowledge of later cultivation systems, martial arts, technology, and the Eight Miraculous Techniques. He uses this knowledge to create cultivation methods, Soul Tools, firearms, and artifact-refining systems that surpass the standards of the contemporary Douluo Continent. 3 11 49

Lin Ya initially manifests the White Swan martial soul, then reveals his second martial soul, the Outcast—whose innate Golden Light Mantra protected him during the ceremony. His innate Soul Power is Rank 10. 3 4

Although the White Swan is the Heaven Dou imperial family’s inherited martial soul, Lin Ya considers the Outcast far more promising and begins cultivation with it instead. 4 His first ring comes from a Soul-Devouring Demon Spider, granting the unusual ability to summon the slain beast as a soul spirit. The summoned spider can devour further soul rings to raise both its own quality and the age of Lin Ya’s first ring. 6 7

After enrolling at Nuoding Academy, Lin Ya defeats Xiao Chenyu, Liu Long, and Ling Feng, then becomes the acknowledged leader of the noble-class students. He trains his followers harshly but earns their loyalty. 12 14

During his second-ring expedition, the Six-Winged Darkgold Tiger overwhelms his escort and abducts him. Lin Ya agrees to accompany it in exchange for sparing Prince Xue Xing and the others. At the Lake of Life, Bi Ji explains that she wishes to understand his unusual soul-spirit ability rather than harm him. 23 24

Green Ji’s sacrifice transforms his White Swan into the life-attribute Emerald Swan and gives him a hundred-thousand-year soul ring, a soul spirit, and external soul bones. 26 27 The martial soul later evolves into Jade Phoenix and finally the million-year ultimate martial soul Jade Phoenix King. 141 248

Lin Ya expands Biyou Village into a center for weapon production, artifact refining, and Soul Tool development. He recruits blacksmiths, develops firearms and soul-guided weapons, and uses the Self-Cultivation Furnace to strengthen both himself and his subordinates. 41 49 51

He later moves his base toward Heaven Dou City and establishes the New Interception Sect. Emperor Xue Ye grants him 5,000 mu of land and a fifty-thousand-year Ghost King Vine soul bone, continuing the imperial family’s financial and material support. 82 84

During the Continental Soul Master Tournament, Emperor Xue Ye publicly confirms Lin Ya as his son through a Black Silver Liquid blood-recognition test. Following continental unification, Dugu Yan becomes his empress. Huo Wu, Shui Bing’er, Ye Lingling, Yao Zi, and Twilight Cloud Vine become his consorts. He subsequently gathers the Upper Root Vessels for an expedition to the world of the Unrivaled Tang Sect. 362

After becoming a god, Lin Ya continues intervening in other worlds. In one such world, he descends into the Far North, elevates the Ice Dragon King’s rings to divine levels, and manifests several Soul Spirits as genuine God Officials. 365

This parallel world has no historical Emperor Xue Ya, and its recorded defeat of Spirit Hall is attributed to Emperor Xue Beng. Although Lin Ya and his companions cross worlds less than a minute apart, the strength of the barriers between parallel worlds causes them to arrive far from one another. 365

In the new world, Lin Ya supports his followers’ disciples, intervenes to protect the Dou Ling Team, and approves candidates for the New Interception Sect’s next generation. His presence eventually draws the attention of that world’s Sea God Tang San, who confronts him over the appearance of people familiar from Tang San’s own history. 390 402 416 417

Lin Ya places importance on those close to him. The Illusory Snake’s Qian Renxue phantom and its illusion of Prince Xue Xing and Dugu Bo dying provoke his anger, exposing his protectiveness toward his family and allies. 70 71

His attachment to Prince Xue Xing predates his rise in strength. When abducted by the Six-Winged Darkgold Tiger, he is willing to risk his own life to save his uncle, recognizing that Xue Xing’s affection is rooted in family rather than his talent. 23

Although he is willing to use coercive methods against hostile enemies and infiltrators, Lin Ya generally rewards loyalty with cultivation resources, techniques, equipment, and direct assistance.
