Shoot!
Goal!
Inter Milan led AC Milan two to one!
Great Grosso—he had inherited the glorious traditions of Italian football! Facchetti, Maldini—their souls had possessed him at this moment... He was not alone! He was not alone!
"What the hell is this..." Du Wei frowned at the television. "Why does a Serie A broadcast have World Cup commentary?"
He walked over and gave the television a hard smack, then felt around on the coffee table for a pack of cigarettes and lit one for himself... He took a deep drag...
Comfortable... It had been so, so long since he had smoked. There were no cigarettes to smoke in the Roland Empire...
Hm? What was he saying? What Roland Empire?
Du Wei suddenly felt his mind becoming muddled... Then, one fragment after another came flooding into his head!
The scene before him—his living room, the sofa, the coffee table, the television, the cabinet... everything suddenly twisted! Finally, the things around him began spinning faster and faster, turning... into a massive vortex. Du Wei stood at its center and was immediately sucked in...
Damn it! My Milan derby... Let me finish watching the match...
Boom!
It was as though thunder exploded inside his head. Then it felt as if someone beside him were holding a drum and beating it endlessly right next to his skull...
Du Wei felt his headache worsening... It hurt! It hurt so much! His head hurt as if it were about to split open!
"Ah..." Du Wei could not help groaning. He clutched his head in both hands, only to suddenly discover that his hair was soaked through!
What was going on?
Du Wei opened his eyes...
He had finally awakened.
What living room, what sofa, what television, what Milan derby... it had all been a dream.
Du Wei was now lying on a raft. His entire body was drenched, his hair was disheveled, and he was a little cold.
He rubbed his head hard, but it still hurt terribly. The sensation was far worse than the migraines Du Wei had suffered in his previous life.
Du Wei began trying to ease the pain by massaging the pressure points on his head with his fingers... But before long, he found the problem with his head!
Right in the center of the top of his head!
Yes, right in the very center! If he gently parted his hair, he could clearly feel a small protrusion on his head!
It was a horn!
The aftereffects of his coma had finally faded. Du Wei sighed and recalled his deal with Chris!
Sure enough... a horn... Hahaha, I have a horn growing out of my head now.
The horn felt hard and cool. It seemed to connect seamlessly with the skin and bone of his head... It did not look at all... well, not at all like something that had been "transplanted" onto him afterward.
Fortunately, it was not very long—only about a third of a finger in length, and roughly as thick as a thumb.
Du Wei kept touching the horn on his head. "Sigh, I wonder what material Chris used... It doesn't seem to be made of bone..."
At this moment, the sea was calm and the wind was still. Looking around, there was nothing but boundless ocean; evidently, they had already traveled far from that terrifying island!
The raft beneath him was unmistakably the very one he had made on the island before! It was exactly the same! Even the crude seams joined with strips of cloth were identical! (Those had been sewn using small sharp branches he had picked out as needles, and finely twisted tree bark as thread.)
Hadn't this raft been smashed to pieces and sunk long ago? Chris could actually restore even this—his abilities really were impressive!
And there were... two women.
Joanna and Vivian, the two female magicians, were also lying on the raft. Both had their eyes tightly shut and were hugging each other. Their breathing was steady and even... Clearly, they were sleeping soundly.
Seeing the girls' eyelids tremble a few times, as though they were about to wake, Du Wei hurriedly adjusted his hair to make it look fluffier and more even over the top of his head. After thinking for a moment, he simply tore off a piece of cloth from his clothes and wrapped it around his head, making something like a sailor's cap.
Vivian woke first. After opening her eyes, she stared dazedly at Du Wei for a while. "Mm... I... How long did I sleep...?"
Du Wei smiled. "Not long."
Joanna suddenly screamed, "Ah!! Where are the waves?! Where is the storm?!"
Du Wei blinked at Joanna, suppressing a laugh. "What storm? What waves?"
Joanna's gaze was confused. "I remember we ran into enormous waves and a storm... Then our raft was sunk..."
Du Wei looked at Joanna's face, then sighed. He reached out and gently touched her forehead. "Do you have a fever?" He pointed around them. "Look, aren't we perfectly fine on the raft? Good heavens... You must have been too exhausted, so you had a nightmare."
Vivian spoke up instead. "Eh... I-I-I did too. I d-d-dreamed we ran into a storm... and the raft s-s-sank..."
The two girls looked at each other, their bewildered eyes filled with doubt.
Du Wei sighed inwardly. It seemed Chris had been right. When they woke up, they would not remember what had happened.
He had no idea what magic that demon's servant had used to actually erase people's memories!!
Joanna sprang to her feet, her brows knitted tightly together. "There really was no storm... But that dream was too terrifying... and too real!"
Her pretty face darkened as she furrowed her brow and racked her brains, yet she simply could not remember anything. Vivian, meanwhile, just opened her eyes wide and blinked at Du Wei, looking utterly lost.
"All right..." Feeling somewhat guilty, Du Wei smiled. "I think you were probably just too tired... Speaking of dreams, the two of you actually had the same one... In fact, I had a dream too, and mine involved both of you."
"What?" the two girls asked at the same time.
Du Wei smiled. "I dreamed of the comfortable big bed in my castle. I was lying right between you two, holding Vivian in one arm and Joanna in the other..."
As he spoke, Du Wei swaggered over and draped an arm around each of their shoulders.
Vivian's face immediately flushed scarlet, and she lowered her head deeply. Joanna's face also flashed with a trace of shyness, but there was far more anger than embarrassment!
Smack! She slapped Du Wei's hand away, then followed up with a kick.
Du Wei was kicked so hard he nearly fell into the sea. With a wry smile, he said, "It was only a dream. Why are you getting so angry?"
"Shut up! Don't mention that dream again!" Joanna's face was still a little red.
Then she looked around them and suddenly cried out, "We... we escaped? We've left that island!!"
Seeing the boundless sea around them, all three cheered loudly... though Du Wei was only pretending.
"Try your magic," Du Wei said with a smile.
Vivian and Joanna both cast a spell... but there still seemed to be some problems.
Vivian used wind magic to summon a breeze and speed up the sail, but she only managed to call forth a small cool gust, which merely tousled the two beauties' hair a little.
As for Joanna, she was rather more impatient. She immediately tried to fly away from there... Unfortunately, after flying for a while, she plunged headfirst into the sea from afar!
By the time Du Wei, with several empty gourds tied to himself, struggled over and rescued Joanna, the poor female mage had already swallowed several mouthfuls of water.
The salty, astringent seawater had choked her badly. After laboriously climbing back onto the raft, she lay there vomiting for quite a while.
"All right, you two mages... It seems your magic has recovered a little, but it's still nowhere near its normal level. It's only slightly better than it was on the island." Holding back his laughter, Du Wei looked at Joanna. "For example, Joanna... On the island, you could only fly a dozen or so meters. Just now, you flew more than twenty meters!"
"You! You're making fun of me! Bleurgh..." Joanna had only managed half a retort before her throat churned. She bent over again and continued vomiting.
Narrowing his eyes, Du Wei smiled. "I think that even though we've left the island, the suppressive effect on your magic will probably last for a while before slowly fading away. It won't recover all at once. My guess is that it'll return to normal in about two days."
"You... how do you know that? Hmph!" Joanna asked coldly.
"I guessed." Du Wei shrugged.
In truth, Chris had told him.
Two days were not too hard to endure... as long as the three of them were lucky enough not to encounter any storms. The other problem was having to go hungry for two days!
On the island, they could only eat the roots and stems of that plant. When they boarded the raft this time, Du Wei had tried every possible method to dig up a little to bring along, but there was simply too little. It could only last them one day.
By the time the sun set that day, the three of them had run out of food.
All three were young men and women still growing, with healthy appetites. They had been unable to eat their fill these past few days, and enduring until now had already pushed them to their limits.
Du Wei could not help eyeing the little cage hanging at Vivian's waist again!
That fat phantom beast, round as a ball of flesh!
Vivian already understood Du Wei quite well! Seeing his gaze sweep more and more frequently toward the little cage beside her, how could she not know what he was thinking?
The frightened little fool hugged the cage tightly, looking at Du Wei with pitiful, pleading eyes without pause.
Almighty God... bless poor little Vivian... and poor Chirp Chirp too...
At last, that night, the Almighty God finally received Vivian's prayer for the first time in many days!
A light appeared in the distance over the sea! Then that point of light gradually drew closer... Judging by sight, Du Wei could tell that it was a ship!
Their empty bodies were instantly filled with energy! Joanna and Vivian both leaped to their feet, waving repeatedly toward the ship and cheering.
Du Wei, however, calmly watched that ship for a while...
As it drew closer and closer, he saw that it was a two-masted sailing ship. It was not large, and looked somewhat worn-down... But what made Du Wei's brow twitch was...
A black flag was clearly flying from its mast! Against the black background was a skull, with two crossed blades beneath it!
...A pirate flag?
A smile appeared at the corner of Du Wei's mouth... Heaven was treating me rather well... It had actually sent a pirate ship!
