Bun Mountain
Goku and Chi-Chi's new home
"Gohan, Yiqi! Honestly, those two kids have run off again. We still have to go to Kame House Island later."
Chi-Chi shouted into the forest from the doorway.
Just then, Goku came out and said helplessly, "I bet they got lost again. I'll go find them."
"Okay, watch the time, Goku."
After reminding him, Chi-Chi went back inside. Goku climbed onto the Flying Nimbus and flew toward the forest.
Meanwhile, beside a patch of woods near Bun Mountain.
Four-year-old Lin Yiqi stood on tiptoe, trying to pick a bright red wild fruit from among the branches of a large tree. His dazzling golden hair gleamed in the sunlight, and being taller than children his age allowed him to easily reach the fruit that Son Gohan could not.
"Big Brother Yiqi, be careful!"
Son Gohan stood beneath the tree, his long black hair hanging loosely behind him. His little hand tightly clutched a hat with a One-Star Ball on it, his large eyes full of worry.
"It's nothing. Here, Gohan."
Lin Yiqi grinned, quickly picked two wild fruits, and handed one to Gohan. Then he took the little hat from Gohan's hand and put it on his own head.
"Haha, thanks, Yiqi."
Gohan happily took the wild fruit and began munching on it.
The two of them walked along, eating wild fruit and chatting happily.
Lin Yiqi was, naturally, the first child of Lin Yuan and Launch. His name, Yiqi, was a homophone for Yiqi.
And the other was naturally Goku and Chi-Chi's child. Yiqi had been born one month before Gohan, so Gohan sometimes called him Big Brother Yiqi.
The two little ones headed deeper into the woods, with Lin Yiqi walking ahead to clear the way, occasionally using a long branch he had picked up to push aside vines blocking their path. Gohan followed closely behind him, fearfully yet excitedly taking in the unfamiliar surroundings.
"Um, Yiqi, haven't we gone too far? Dad said he was taking us to see old Master Roshi later."
"Oh, right. I almost forgot. Then no exploring today. Let's head back the way we came."
Only after hearing Gohan did Lin Yiqi remember that they were going to Master Roshi's house today. After roughly figuring out the direction, he led Gohan onward.
As they walked, Gohan looked at him hesitantly. "Are you sure? Mom said that if you get lost in the forest, it's best to stay where you are..."
"Of course I'm sure!" Lin Yiqi patted his chest. "Just follow me!"
Just then, the bushes ahead began shaking violently, accompanied by heavy footsteps and a deep growl. A massive tyrannosaurus poked its head out from the trees, its yellow eyes fixed on the two children as saliva dripped between its sharp teeth.
"W... Waaaah!"
Gohan was so frightened that tears immediately welled up in his eyes. His little hand clutched tightly at Lin Yiqi's clothes. "A... a dinosaur! Mom said dinosaurs like this eat children!"
Lin Yiqi was clearly startled by the dinosaur's sudden appearance too, but he quickly calmed down. Just a dinosaur. Hmph!
Lin Yiqi shielded Gohan behind him, pointed at the dinosaur, and threatened it in his childish voice, "What are you looking at? Get lost, or I'll beat you flat."
Sensing Yiqi's threat, the tyrannosaurus let out an ear-splitting roar and charged at them.
"No, don't eat me!"
Gohan shouted with his eyes squeezed shut.
Yiqi clenched his fist, his pretty large eyes fixed on the dinosaur's jaw. The instant its head came close, his tiny fist slammed hard into its chin.
Bang!
After a dull thud, the tyrannosaurus, dozens of times larger than Lin Yiqi, was actually knocked backward by that punch. It crashed heavily to the ground and passed out.
Gohan stared in shock, tears still hanging on his face. "B-Big Brother Yiqi... you..."
With his back to Gohan, Lin Yiqi stared at his own fist in disbelief as well. Then he turned around, his face full of pride.
"Hahaha, just a dinosaur. How could it possibly be a match for your Big Brother Yiqi? Come on, let's go back."
Gohan completely turned into a little fanboy, endlessly praising Yiqi's bravery. Before they had walked very far, Goku found them riding the Flying Nimbus and took them toward Master Roshi's place.
At the same time, atop a towering mountain peak, Piccolo knelt on both knees, his arms hanging limply against the ground. The ground was covered in sweat dripping from him.
Piccolo's face was filled with fear, beads of sweat the size of soybeans continuously falling from his forehead.
"Just now... who exactly was that guy?! That terrifying aura pinned me down so hard I couldn't move. Damn it!"
Watching the direction that person had left in, Piccolo slowly rose to his feet and followed.
A man dressed in a dark battle suit, with a brown tail wrapped around his waist, waist-length black hair, and a scouter over one eye, was speeding toward Kame House Island.
The scouter kept beeping.
"Oh? This guy is moving at an astonishing speed. That should be Kakarot. My foolish little brother, what the hell has he been doing? Why is this planet still intact?"
"Honestly, Goku, if I don't invite you, you can't even come visit this old man, can you?"
Master Roshi looked at Goku and the two little ones before him, pretending to complain.
"Hahaha, aren't I here now...?"
Goku, Master Roshi, and the others chatted happily, while Bulma kept teasing Lin Yiqi and Gohan.
Lin Yiqi had practically grown up under Bulma's watch. It was her first time meeting Gohan. He was so timid and submissive—nothing like Goku had been as a child.
Looking at Gohan's innocent smile, memories drifted through Bulma's mind one after another.
If...
Suddenly, Goku's expression changed. He stared tensely at the distant sky. Master Roshi, Krillin, and the others noticed something was wrong and hurriedly asked Goku what had happened.
"Such... such astonishing power. Such unfamiliar energy. Who could this be?"
Fine beads of sweat formed on Goku's forehead as he spoke gravely toward the distance.
The group braced themselves as though facing a great enemy. Before long, a figure shot toward them from the horizon and stopped in front of them.
The newcomer was Raditz.
Raditz spotted Kakarot at the head of the group at once. He could not help but sigh inwardly. Kakarot really did look like their father. Too bad their father was already dead.
"Hey! Who are you?" Goku asked first.
"Hm? You don't recognize me? Kakarot, I'm your older brother. Raditz!"
Goku looked utterly confused, seemingly unable to understand what the man was talking about. Since when did he have an older brother?
"My name isn't Kakarot. My name is Son Goku! And I don't have an older brother."
Raditz looked puzzled. He was certain he could not possibly have mistaken the man. "Did you suffer a blow to the head before? Did your personality suddenly change afterward?"
Raditz pointed at his own head as he asked.
Master Roshi and Goku both looked grave. He was right, but how did he know? Could this man really be Goku's older brother?
"I did hit the back of my head when I was little." Goku nodded.
After receiving confirmation, Raditz gave a soft laugh. "Heh heh, then that explains it. Kakarot, you must have lost your memory. Let me tell you: you are a Saiyan—the strongest warrior race in the universe! And your purpose in coming to this planet was to kill every single person on it!"
"W-What? A Saiyan?" Goku looked utterly incredulous.
Seemingly oblivious to the tense atmosphere, Krillin walked toward Raditz with a look of disdain, muttering as he went.
"Go on, get lost. A drunkard shows up in broad daylight spouting nonsense. Go back where you came from, got it...?"
Bang!
Before he could finish, Krillin was sent flying and smashed into the small house.
"Krillin! Damn it!"
Goku charged forward in fury, but Raditz knocked him to the ground in just three moves. Goku clutched his stomach in pain, curled up on the ground.
Raditz then took Son Gohan away and told Goku that he had one day. He was to kill one hundred Earthlings and come find him. Otherwise, Raditz would kill his son and destroy the planet.
With that, Raditz grabbed the wailing Gohan and flew away.
At that moment, Lin Yuan had just returned to West City on Earth!
