Tongtian is fiercely proud, protective of the Interception Sect, and unwilling to accept arrangements imposed upon him by other Sages. His refusal to sign the Investiture of the Gods initially stems from concern for his disciples and his own Dao, but this resolve repeatedly turns into rage, suspicion, and reckless escalation. 73 452 549

He refuses to accept the consequences for his disciples and later takes Shen Gongbao—the person destined to invest the gods—as a personal disciple, arming him with the Thunder Duke Whip, Heaven-Opening Pearl, and command over the Six Souls Banner. 73 79
