Background / History

Pangu opened heaven and earth, while the Chaos Green Lotus shattered during the world-opening process. One of its seeds entered the Primordial World and became the Twelve-Grade Purifying White Lotus. 3

The world has repeatedly been reshaped by great calamities, including the Beast Calamity, Dragon-Han First Calamity, Witch-Demon Calamity, and Investiture of the Gods Calamity. Each calamity rearranges both the balance of power and the fate of its living beings. 11

For much of its history, the Heavenly Dao held dominance over the Earth Dao and Human Dao. The Earth Dao's awakening began when the world's earth veins were linked to the Netherworld Underworld; its will subsequently spread through the land, earth veins, and Six Paths of Reincarnation. 53 54 55

During Lord Tongtian's final conflict with the other great powers, the pillars supporting heaven were severed, heaven and earth were damaged, and the Primordial Continent split into four portions. Zhenyuanzi, Lady Serenity, Wangshu, and other powers acted to preserve the earth veins, Netherworld, seas, and living beings. 593

The Human Dao finally awakened through Ying Zheng's Mount Tai sacrifice. With the Heavenly, Earthly, and Human Daos operating together, the world completed its ultimate ascension. 605

Cosmic Structure

Dao Order

Heavenly Dao

The Heavenly Dao originally reigned supreme over the Primordial World, binding even Heavenly Dao Saints through its laws and order. Its suppression prevented the Earth Dao and Human Dao from fully awakening. 54

After the Human Dao's awakening, the Heavenly Dao became one of three coexisting cosmic foundations rather than the world's sole governing authority. 605

Earth Dao

The Earth Dao is tied to the Primordial World's earth veins, the Netherworld Underworld, and the Six Paths of Reincarnation. Its awakening strengthened the world's origin and allowed the Earthly Dao's order to extend across the land. 54 55

Human Dao

The Human Dao initially lay dormant beneath Heavenly Dao suppression. It awakened when Ying Zheng united human fortune and invoked the witness of Heaven, Earth, and Humanity at Mount Tai. 31 605

Although awakened through humanity, the Human Dao is described as the Dao of survival for all races and living beings of the Primordial World. 605

Governance and Inhabitants

• Dao Ancestor Hongjun — After the Three Daos came into balance, Hongjun became the Ancestor of the Three Daos, wielding the Heavenly, Earthly, and Human Dao Golden Wheels to assist the world's ascension. 605
• Heavenly Court — The orthodox lineage of the Heavenly Dao, ruled by Jade Emperor Haotian and Queen Mother Yaochi. It governs the Three Realms alongside the Five Sovereigns. 8 113
• Eastern Pole Qinghua Emperor — Commands the myriad kinds of the Three Realms, governs growth, relieves suffering, and guides departed souls. 8
• Western Pole Gouchen Emperor — Commands gods, assists in governing Heaven, Earth, and Humanity, and presides over military affairs throughout the Three Realms. 8
• Myriad races — The world is inhabited by humans, dragons, demons, witches, fierce beasts, Asuras, and numerous other races whose fortunes are shaped by calamities, merit, and the Three Daos. 55 605

Major Calamities and Transformations

• Beast Calamity — The Fierce Beast Race, born from the obsessions of the Three Thousand Chaos Demon Gods and the world's Killing Intent, once ravaged the newly formed world before being suppressed by Hongjun and other great powers. 257 271
• Witch-Demon Calamity — Ended the former Demon Race Heavenly Court and left both the Witch Race and Demon Race in decline, though neither race was entirely eradicated. 16
• Investiture of the Gods Calamity — An unavoidable great trend that entangled saintly sects, humanity, the Heavenly Court, and the myriad races in karmic conflict. 11 185
