Background / History

In his later years, Krillin sat each morning outside the Mount Paozu Dojo, watching the disciples train from one of the old wicker chairs. Though his hair had turned completely white, his Qi Net could still extend dozens of meters from his fingertips 56.

Krillin inherited the daily porridge ritual after Vegeta’s death. Each morning, he brought out two bowls: one for himself and one placed on the empty chair beside him. The bowl on the empty chair was the same crookedly carved “turtle” bowl that Goku had once given Vegeta, and Krillin became its keeper after Vegeta passed away 56.

Lazuli’s granddaughter helped maintain the ritual by refilling the porridge every day. She had grown from a nervous new patrol member into a New Turtle Hermit instructor, and after disembarking from patrol duty she helped Krillin cook the porridge 56.

Krillin died peacefully at dawn in the old wicker chair outside the Turtle Hermit House Dojo, as eighth-generation trainees began their morning laps. He held the warm seafood porridge bowl carved with the “turtle” character but did not drink from it. His final sensed image was Goku, in a faded orange martial arts uniform, reaching out his hand as he had when they first met outside Orin Temple 56.

After his death, Piccolo traveled overnight from New Planet Namek and placed before Krillin’s gravestone a rubbing from the Night Watcher Observatory bearing Krillin’s words: “Not because my strength is enough, but because I’m willing.” Tien Shinhan and Chiaotzu performed the Three-Eye Immobilization Technique before the grave, while Nappa promised to watch over the net Krillin had left behind 56.

Krillin’s grave was placed at the edge of the coconut grove behind the Turtle Hermit House, facing the sea in a line with the graves of Master Roshi, Goku, Vegeta, and Bulma. His final wish was for New Planet Namek to join the regular rotation of the Turtle Hermit School’s cross-universe patrol system, extending his “net” to Namek 56.
