Harry had recently begun to suffer from the troubles of being famous.
His best friend Ron's little sister Ginny seemed to have an enormous crush on him, and the new Gryffindor student Colin Creevey was much the same.
Ginny would blush whenever she saw Harry, or knock something over. Colin, meanwhile, constantly followed Harry around with his camera, photographing and documenting everything he did.
"Oh, you enjoy this feeling, do you? But if you ask me, it's still too early for you." One day, Lockhart pulled him aside and said, "You should work with me, publish a book or something. That's how you'll cement your reputation."
To be honest, Harry had indeed felt a little secretly pleased at first. After all, who didn't like being admired?
But Lockhart's words woke him up at once. He didn't want to become as unbearable as Lockhart.
