The Kyoto team also quickly compared their kills.
By calculating the approximate point gap between the two teams, they could formulate their next battle plan.
Broom Girl had two points, Kasumi Miwa had three, Kamo and Mai had four each, and Mechamaru had twelve!
Mechamaru's incredibly high score was thanks to his terrifying firepower.
Every attack he launched was a wide-range energy blast, both fast and powerful. He had snatched cursed spirits from Tokyo Jujutsu High several times.
Meanwhile, Todo, like Itadori, most likely had zero points, so he was not worth considering.
They could thank the heavens if he managed to complete the principal's assignment of killing Itadori.
"Mechamaru did well," Kamo praised. Since he had been tangled up with Fushiguro for too long, his score was less than ideal.
"Our total score is twenty-five points. I estimate it's probably higher than Tokyo's, but the difference is small."
"Our next plan is to do everything we can to stop them from earning points. Whenever there's a chance, we have to snatch cursed spirits from them!"
Kamo's plan received everyone's unanimous approval. Just as they were all rubbing their hands together in preparation to act, a powerful cursed presence drew all of their attention!
The cursed spirit was so powerful that even sorcerers unskilled at sensing could clearly feel its existence.
"Uwee—no—don't—"
A Grade 2 cursed spirit came sprinting toward the two schools, continuously repeating a baffling cry.
Had this cursed spirit been born from the emotion of fear, which was why it spoke such words? Or was it truly afraid of something?
Either way, a Grade 2 cursed spirit was worth four points. Whichever team took it down would greatly improve its chances of winning!
Kamo reacted quickly and immediately ordered, "Move!"
Kyoto Jujutsu High acted in perfect coordination. Without needing many words, they instinctively divided up their tasks.
Everyone except Mechamaru stayed behind to hold Fushiguro and the others back. The task of exorcising the cursed spirit was entirely up to Mechamaru.
In the forest's complicated terrain, Kamo's arrows could easily be blocked by obstacles such as trees and rocks, causing him to miss a crucial opportunity.
But Mechamaru was different. His energy blasts could pierce straight through those obstacles and kill with a single strike!
Just as Maki was about to make her move, Kyoto Jujutsu High closed in and blocked her.
"Yo, yo, yo, where do you think you're going? Those four points are ours. You should just stand there and watch obediently." Mai spun the revolver in her hand, her expression full of contempt.
"Get out of my way!" Maki swung her naginata fiercely. With everyone working together, she finally tore open a gap in Kyoto Jujutsu High's encirclement.
Fushiguro seized the opportunity to rush out. The summoned Nue grabbed his shoulder and darted swiftly through the forest.
If they wanted to snatch those four points from Mechamaru while behind, they needed both mobility and power.
And the best choice capable of doing both was Fushiguro.
The Grade 2 cursed spirit was charging toward them, while they were rushing toward it. The distance between them rapidly closed, and everything would be decided in an instant!
"I've got it!" Mechamaru shouted as his right arm opened up and the condensed energy blast poured forth.
Any obstacle daring to stand in its path was destined to be shattered.
Fushiguro's heart tightened. His hand signs changed rapidly. "Max Elephant!"
A massive elephant shikigami burst forth, spraying an enormous high-pressure water jet from its trunk.
This was also the most powerful shikigami Fushiguro could summon!
"I won't let you have it!" Fushiguro shouted back.
Seeing this, the team members holding one another back behind them also tacitly stopped fighting and waited tensely for the final outcome.
Boom—
A massive impact rang out, and the area where the cursed spirit had been was flattened.
"Did we get it?" Kamo asked.
Mechamaru shook his head indifferently.
It was as though a layer of gray gauze had settled over the hearts of the Kyoto students. It would be nearly impossible to encounter another rare Grade 2 cursed spirit.
They might very well lose to Tokyo Jujutsu High because of these four points.
Hearing this, Maki and the others jumped with joy, believing Fushiguro had exorcised the cursed spirit first.
But Fushiguro did not look happy. There was even a trace of confusion on his face.
Because he knew clearly that he had not exorcised the cursed spirit either!
"No, I wasn't the one who exorcised it..."
"What? Only the two of you attacked here. If it wasn't one of you, then who was it?"
When the smoke and dust dispersed and the mutilated corpse of the Grade 2 cursed spirit came into view, everyone discovered a kunai embedded in the center of its forehead!
"What! That's Lin Mu's cursed tool!" Everyone recognized the cursed tool lodged in the cursed spirit's head.
"No, that's impossible. He was clearly within my sight just now. I never saw him throw any hidden weapon!" Kamo said suspiciously, stroking his chin. "Who was it?"
Just as everyone was left utterly bewildered, a figure slowly approached from the direction the cursed spirit had fled—and his appearance made everyone present drop their jaws!
"Lin Mu!!!"
Everyone cried out in shock—not because the newcomer was Lin Mu, but because there were now two Lin Mus on the field!
"No, if you're Lin Mu, then who is he?" Everyone was baffled. Even Maki and the others, who were his teammates, were completely confused.
After thinking for a moment, Kamo slowly spoke. "A clone technique?"
"We already knew Lin Mu was a jujutsu sorcerer with multiple techniques. I never expected him to be able to use a technique like cloning too!"
"But which one is the original? These two Lin Mus look completely identical."
Forget Kamo, who was unfamiliar with Lin Mu—even Fushiguro and Itadori couldn't tell which one was the real Lin Mu!
To them, both of them looked like the real Lin Mu.
"How did you get here?" the 'Lin Mu' standing beside Maki suddenly asked, and the person he was questioning was actually himself.
"Couldn't be helped. There were quite a lot of cursed spirits in that wave—more than forty. One slipped out by accident," the Lin Mu being questioned answered.
To everyone else, this scene of someone asking himself questions was utterly bizarre. Who talked to themselves so naturally?
It was like the two of them were old friends who had been separated for years!
"Wait!" Kamo caught the crucial point. "How many cursed spirits did he just say?"
"If I heard right, it should've been forty, right?" Mai replied with a mocking expression.
"Hey, idiot, don't you know the higher-ups didn't deploy that many cursed spirits in total?"
"You think such a crude lie can make us lose our nerve?"
"Forty, huh? Why not say you exorcised four hundred cursed spirits instead? That's hilarious." Mai sneered, treating the words of the newly appeared 'Lin Mu' as nothing more than a tactic Tokyo Jujutsu High had devised to disrupt their morale.
The newly appeared 'Lin Mu' was shaken to the core. How is that possible! Our operation was clearly so well concealed—how did she know we exorcised more than four hundred cursed spirits?!
"Hey." The Lin Mu who had just arrived spoke coldly. "Since when have you been monitoring us?"
