Background / History

Before learning about jujutsu, Itadori already possessed extraordinary physical strength. At school, he effortlessly outperformed teacher Takagi's shot-put throw and dented a soccer goal with the projectile. 2

After handling his grandfather's funeral arrangements, Itadori is confronted by Megumi Fushiguro over a cursed object he had picked up: Sukuna's Finger. When the Finger's seal is broken at his school, he enters the building to rescue two upperclassmen, using his strength and mobility to distract a cursed spirit and carry them to safety. 3 4

When a Grade 2 cursed spirit threatens Megumi and Lin Mu, Itadori catches the Finger between his teeth and swallows it. He becomes Sukuna's vessel, gains cursed energy, and proves capable of forcibly retaking control of his own body from the King of Curses. 5 6

Although sentenced to death because of Sukuna's presence, Itadori chooses to consume every Finger so Sukuna can be eliminated permanently. He passes Masamichi Yaga's entrance examination by making clear that accepting this burden is his own choice, not merely obedience to his grandfather's final words. 7 8

He joins Tokyo Jujutsu High alongside Megumi and Lin Mu, sharing their dormitory floor and committing himself to the dangerous work of locating Sukuna's remaining Fingers. 9
