Lin Mu's oppressive tone immediately irritated Mai. "What surveillance? I think something's wrong with your brain."
"Who would waste their time watching you? Are you even that strong?"
The Tokyo Jujutsu High team also felt their faces burn, embarrassed by Lin Mu's blatant nonsense.
"This kid is spouting crap without even looking at the situation. There probably aren't even a hundred cursed spirits on the field, and you killed forty by yourself? Who would believe that?" Maki said helplessly, rubbing her forehead.
She knew Lin Mu might be trying to confuse the other side this way, but his lie was far too outrageous.
"How's the cursed spirit exorcism going?" Lin Mu beside Maki continued asking as though he had not noticed everyone's awkward expressions.
"More or less done. Only a few scattered ones are left. We're just waiting to exorcise the target cursed spirit's main body."
"Finally, I can take a break..." the newly appeared Lin Mu complained.
"That bastard dumped all the hard work on us. Who knows where he's hiding and enjoying himself?"
The naturally lively exchange between the two Lin Mus plunged the scene into silence once more. They had seen people talk to themselves before, but never someone who could have such an animated conversation with himself!
And they were both speaking Japanese, so why did it become incomprehensible when put together?
What main body? How's the cursed spirit exorcism going? Only the target cursed spirit is left...
Listen to that—were those things a normal person could say?
"Hey, do you take us for idiots?" Mai snapped. "How long has it even been? How could you have already found the target cursed spirit?"
"The higher-ups would never let the cursed spirit that decides the outcome be found so easily."
"There's a limit to lying. You're only making yourself look ignorant!"
The Tokyo Jujutsu High students were equally suspicious, but seeing that Lin Mu did not seem to be lying at all, they could not help indulging in a fantasy.
"What if Lin Mu really did find the target cursed spirit?"
But more than that, what shocked them was that neither of these two Lin Mus was the main body!
Maki lowered her voice and asked the Lin Mu beside her, "Is what you said true? Neither of you is the main body?"
Lin Mu nodded slightly.
After receiving a definite answer, Maki's entire understanding of Lin Mu changed completely. A single clone possessed the strength of a semi-grade 1 sorcerer, while she herself was only grade 2. Yet she had shamelessly mocked Lin Mu before.
The thought made her want to crawl into a crack in the ground!
Panda and Inumaki exchanged glances, the shock in their hearts plainly visible on their faces.
They had not expected Lin Mu to be this strong! With clones alone, he could overwhelm most of the people on the other side.
During the earlier melee, if Lin Mu had not restrained Mechamaru and Kamo, two semi-grade 1 sorcerers, by himself, they might very well have suffered injuries.
Maki forced down her embarrassment and finally asked Lin Mu a question in a discreet voice.
"Then how many cursed spirits have you exorcised?"
Lin Mu had nothing to hide from his teammates. "So far, probably around four hundred. Our total score is around eight hundred."
Lin Mu spoke with a serious expression, even pausing slightly when he mentioned the total score.
The moment Maki heard the final number, her entire body froze. Her heart pounded wildly out of control as she struggled to accept such an outrageous reality.
"Ei-eight... eight hundred!" After forcing out those words, Maki collapsed straight backward. Panda was quick enough to catch her before she fell.
"Pull yourself together, Maki! What's wrong with you?" Panda had not heard the conversation between Maki and Lin Mu, and he supported her limp body with a baffled expression.
After Kamo struggled to process what Lin Mu had said, enormous waves surged in his heart!
"Could it be that neither of those two Lin Mus is the main body?!"
"And while they were still keeping each other in check, the real body had already found the target cursed spirit's location!"
"But is that even possible? Even his clones have the strength of semi-grade 1 sorcerers. Just how strong is he himself?!"
The more Kamo thought about it, the more shocked he became. "They've already found the target cursed spirit! Hurry, we can't let them beat us to it!"
Kamo shouted, intending to mobilize all his teammates to search with all their strength for the target cursed spirit, to see whether they could reach it before Lin Mu exorcised it.
Though he could not tell whether the Lin Mu clone before him was telling the truth, the final outcome was at stake. He had no choice but to believe it.
Besides, even if Lin Mu was talking nonsense, there would be no real loss for them if it led them to the target cursed spirit.
Just as they were preparing to move, Lin Mu's clone spoke coldly. "No need to bother. The match is already over!"
The instant Lin Mu finished speaking, an announcement rang out across the entire field. "The exchange event is over. The exchange event is over."
"The winner: Tokyo Jujutsu High!"
"The winner: Tokyo Jujutsu High!"
The repeated announcement lingered in everyone's minds for a long time.
Every member of Kyoto Jujutsu High turned to stone, frozen where they stood.
Though Maki and the others were filled with joy, they also felt as though none of it was real.
Ever since the competition began, they had seemed busy, yet also seemed to have no idea what they were busy with.
They had been fighting back and forth here, battling bloodily over one or two points, while Lin Mu had apparently even exorcised the final cursed spirit?
Everyone from Kyoto Jujutsu High looked dejected. They did not want to believe it, but Lin Mu had played them all for fools without any of them noticing.
Compared to him, they looked like headless flies buzzing around aimlessly.
Mai cursed unwillingly, "Damn it, he was just lucky!"
"Using clones to confuse us—if you've got the guts, fight us head-on!"
Having been provoked by Lin Mu several times and even crushed by his clone, Mai practically lost all reason whenever anything related to Lin Mu came up.
"Now announcing each team's detailed scores."
"First place: Tokyo Jujutsu High, Lin Mu. Total score: 864."
"Second place: Kyoto Jujutsu High, Mechamaru. Total score: 12."
Upon hearing the final result, everyone except Maki, who had asked beforehand, was struck dumb!
That cliff-like lead in points completely silenced every voice of doubt!
Mai, who had been complaining and refusing to accept it, fell completely silent after hearing Lin Mu's final score. No matter how irrational she was, she understood that before such an overwhelming point gap, every excuse was pale and powerless.
Kamo's open mouth stiffly moved up and down. "864! Just how many cursed spirits did that guy exorcise?!"
"Wait, if he could score that high, that means there were actually a huge number of cursed spirits on the field!"
"We fought like hell over nothing but the scraps you left behind?"
