From their descriptions, Peter had roughly pieced together the arms dealer called Shocker.
He was a bald white man around forty, sometimes fond of wearing a black knit cap, with a full beard covering his face. He wore the gauntlet that could emit shockwaves on his right hand, and always had a rebellious, unruly look on his face.
As the gang members put it, he had a very punchable face.
If they had not needed the weapons he sold, they definitely would have beaten him up a few times to vent their anger.
Shocker also had an accomplice, though that person was generally only responsible for driving.
Peter guessed he was probably something like Shocker's employee?
Well, it had to be said, that fit Peter's mental image of a bad guy rather well.
A fierce-looking big man with a mysterious driver—wow, the atmosphere was suddenly there.
Still, there had to be thousands, if not tens of thousands, of people in New York with similar appearances and outfits, right?
Only that high-tech gauntlet capable of emitting shockwaves was distinctive.
But unless the guy was an idiot, who would parade around with something like that?
As it happened, there really was an idiot.
According to reliable information, these Hellhounds were conducting a deal with him at eleven tonight.
And based on past practice, Shocker would definitely come in person.
Peter was not entirely sure whether what these people had said was true.
Still, better to believe it than not.
So after tying all of them up with webbing, he returned to the rooftop.
He found that The Punisher did not look too pleased. Clearly, during the time Peter had been gone, he had suffered some "torment" from Daredevil.
—Probably verbal torment. After all, Daredevil did not seem like the type to casually resort to violence.
But sometimes, for certain people, verbal or psychological torment was far more agonizing than physical torment.
If The Punisher still had his gun, Peter believed he would have shot Daredevil.
"Did you get what you wanted?" Even without eyes, Daredevil could still perceive everything around him. Peter had barely stepped onto the roof before Daredevil noticed him.
Before Peter could speak, The Punisher shouted furiously, "Kid, I won't hold it against you for tying me up, but you need to let me go right now. I'm going to beat the hell out of this guy!"
Peter scratched his head and remained where he was.
The Punisher's face immediately darkened. "You're going back on your word? You want to make an enemy out of me for good? Then you'd better kill me, or wait for my revenge!"
Feeling awkward, Peter turned his head aside.
Right then, two little spiders were fighting in his mind.
One had demon wings stuck into its back, while the other had angel wings.
The angel spider said, "You said just now that you'd let him go after questioning him. Are you going to become someone who breaks his promises?"
The demon spider said, "If we let him go, with his personality, he'll definitely kill those gang members. Then the lead will be cut off again. How am I supposed to catch Shocker?"
The angel spider said, "Why not talk things over with him properly? He'll understand."
The demon spider said, "No, he's stubborn, violent, and sharp-tongued. He even said I was some little brat who loved helping old ladies cross the street every day!"
The angel spider said, "How about this? Let him go first, then catch him again. That way, you'll fulfill your promise and can conduct another round of 'negotiations.'"
The demon spider said, "Good idea. Let's do that."
Peter thought, What good idea? That's obviously a terrible idea!
"Your emotions fluctuated several times. That means you're conflicted. Tell me, what happened?" Daredevil asked.
This guy's ability was seriously broken.
He clearly could not see, yet he could actually "see" more than other people.
Peter told him everything he had learned.
However, The Punisher was the first to object.
"What? You still want to let them leave here and carry out the weapons deal? No! This is a rare opportunity to catch them all in one sweep! If we miss today, they'll scatter again and harm even more people!" The Punisher said angrily.
Peter tried to persuade him. "But the weapons are the source of the problem. If we don't catch the source, there may be Hellhounds now, but there'll be Helltails, Hellheads, Hellhands, and all kinds of other groups later. Only by solving the source can we solve the problem completely!"
The Punisher said, "Solving the source doesn't mean we have to let these people go as bait. We can search their base for clues! What if they're just deceiving you to buy time?"
"Uh..." Peter was briefly at a loss. He really had not considered that.
At that moment, Daredevil said, "I can help you with that."
Peter turned to look at him.
Daredevil flicked the metal baton in his hand, and it immediately retracted into a short section.
Then he walked to the edge of the rooftop and jumped down.
Peter was startled.
What was wrong with this guy? He just jumped down like that? This was the sixth floor!
He hurried to the edge, only to see Daredevil extend the baton in midair, rapidly tapping the walls around him several times and accurately locating his landing points.
After a few jumps, he entered the residential building.
A little while later, he came back out, made several more jumps, and returned to the rooftop.
He moved so nimbly that he did not look blind at all!
Even the best parkour athletes were probably only this good!
"I checked for you. It wasn't a lie," Daredevil said calmly, without even breathing hard.
This time, The Punisher was left speechless.
Although he and Daredevil did not get along, he had personally experienced how capable this guy was.
He was a human lie detector.
Unless someone had undergone extremely rigorous training and could keep their heart rate, breathing, and every other physical sign perfectly steady while lying—
Otherwise, there was nowhere to hide.
But anyone capable of that would absolutely be among the elite, the kind who had undergone layers upon layers of long-term brainwashing.
These gang members clearly were not in that category.
Peter beamed. "Um, Mr. Castle, so..."
"Untie me," The Punisher said expressionlessly.
Peter did not move.
The Punisher said irritably, "Don't worry. Since this guy has said so, I'll reluctantly take a step back. I'll go with you. When that guy called Shocker shows up, we'll take them all out together! That guy isn't any better anyway!"
Peter thought, Although this guy still sounded full of violence and killing intent, did I just somehow get a combatant for free?
Mr. Stark won't deduct my credit for this, will he?
Peter's thoughts ran wild, but his hands were already honestly untying The Punisher.
