"Good morning, viewers. Today is Saturday, June 30th, Year 1490 of the Sea Circle Calendar. Welcome to the morning news broadcast."
"First, here are today's top stories."
"..."
"World Noble Saint Rosward, representing the government and the Celestial Dragons, is conducting routine inspections of the government-affiliated member nations, laying preliminary groundwork for the upcoming World Conference."
"Following pirate Roger's destruction of the Bilinchas Kingdom, the Navy has attached great importance to the matter. Fleet Admiral Kong has already mobilized substantial forces and plans to pursue him."
"Wano Country's second large-scale civil unrest has temporarily been declared settled. Under the samurai's unrelenting mediation, the ninja have finally compromised."
"Government spokesperson Minister Honest has once again visited the Hunter Association, actively seeking talks with Hunter Association Chairman Isaac Netero..."
"Recently, multiple unexplained riots have occurred on the Dark Continent. Large numbers of super-dangerous creatures have assaulted the Red Line. The government has stated that it will investigate the issue as soon as possible and reinforce the Red Line's defenses."
"..."
The sound of a twenty-nine-inch old-fashioned R-color television drifted through the room.
"Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh~~~"
The running faucet in the bathroom seemed to answer it.
In front of the mirror, a boy nervously inspected his naked body while muttering, "My... my little brother's still here. Thank goodness. Though there's an extra one now—what an exquisite thing! I'm about 1.3 meters tall. Am I six years old? Pretty tall."
"Short golden hair, golden eyes, skin... so pale it's ridiculous. I kind of have the vibe of Genos from One Punch Man? But my facial features are a little softer. Super cute! Hehe~ I hope I don't grow up ugly. Otherwise, even calling me a pretty boy would be doing me an injustice!"
Brad Hyman—this was Brad's new name and surname. He had not always been called Brad Hyman. At least, his soul had not been called Brad Hyman. His soul was a visitor from Earth.
"New parents... tch~ There are so few memories. Scientists in the World Government's scientific forces? Busy, cutting-edge elite talents. No wonder that even though we all live in Mary Geoise, I only saw them once a year. They'd just send assistants over to look after me..."
Having fully merged with the memories, Brad furrowed his brow slightly. After drying himself and getting dressed, he walked out of the bathroom, drawn in by the news on the television.
About half an hour later.
"This is bad! This world seems especially... dangerous!" After watching the news for a while, Brad slumped lifelessly against the sofa, his mouth twitching as his head throbbed. "From a god's-eye view, this should be the world setting of One Piece, fused with Hunter x Hunter, Naruto, Akame ga Kill... What a complete mess! Especially—Year 1490 of the Sea Circle Calendar? That's still ages before the Great Pirate Era, and Gol D. Roger is still alive and kicking~"
What should he do?
Brad sank into deep thought, pondering the path ahead.
After a brief minute, Brad had his answer. He decided to use the advantages of his parents' status to cling tightly to the World Government and quietly grow stronger!
Brad clenched his childish fists, his expression gradually spiraling out of control. "I don't want to die a second time! A single accidental car crash ended my young life. How pathetic—so fragile! I can't be that fragile again, especially not in a world this damn dangerous! It's countless times more dangerous than my old world! Who knows when disaster might fall from the sky and crush me like an ant? Haki, Nen abilities, ninjutsu, swordsmanship, Devil Fruits, Imperial Arms... anything is fine, as long as it can make me stronger..."
His attachment to life and fear of future crises pushed Brad to clarify his goal.
"Knock, knock, knock."
A sudden knock sounded at the door.
"The door isn't locked," Brad said, turning his head.
"Creak~~~"
The door opened, but the visitor was not one of his parents' familiar assistants. It was a handsome young man with gray slicked-back hair.
"You're... Raschi... Uncle?" Brad greeted him instinctively.
Raschi was Brad's biological aunt's husband. He belonged to Cipher Pol, the World Government's intelligence organization, and spent most of the year away from home. He was rarely seen, so Brad recognized him only after some hesitation.
Raschi's lips moved several times before he sighed. "Brad, Xue Fazi is waiting for you."
"Aunt?" Brad read his expression. "Did something happen?"
"Wuuu, wuuu, wuuu~~~"
Unconcealed sobbing came from outside the door. A gentle woman with long golden hair was weeping endlessly in grief.
"They must have... met with misfortune," Brad said with remarkable calm. Though this body was related to the scientist couple by blood, he had no emotional foundation with them. He could not bring himself to feel sad. Looking up, he asked, "Is that right?"
Raschi lowered his head, pitying Brad for his "forced strength." "A scientific experiment accident. The scientific team your parents were part of was caught in an explosion... From now on, we'll take care of you."
Brad silently followed his aunt and uncle's family through the world's most prosperous metropolis, the "Holy Land" of Mary Geoise, situated atop the Red Line. At last, they stopped at an institution Brad did not recognize, where he claimed his parents' remains and belongings.
There were essentially no remains. The massive explosion had incinerated everything. What was handed to Brad were merely two boxes, containing ashes that might not even have belonged to his parents.
There was one belonging. No—it was a...
Ferocious joints, limbs shaped like scythes, and what seemed to be a gold-trimmed helmet atop her head. Her black-and-white skin resembled a skintight leather suit that outlined her proud figure. Behind her was a round, plump, enormous butt, and more importantly, that beautiful face.
"A monster girl? Mos... Mosquito Girl?!" Brad's heart pounded wildly. His face remained expressionless, but inwardly he was panicking like mad. "Mosquito Girl from One Punch Man?! What kind of world is this?!"
"She is something your parents and another scientist developed together. That scientist gave her to you. His exact words were, 'This is to repay the favor I owed your parents. Though she's a defective product, she can at least protect you reasonably well.'" After giving the brief explanation while pointing at Mosquito Girl, the government official simply and irresponsibly left.
Xue Fazi hugged Brad, choking back sobs. "Poor child..."
"This isn't the time to cry. We need to prepare the funeral, Xue Fazi." Raschi was not good at comforting others, so he could only find an excuse to redirect his wife's grief.
Xue Fazi wiped away her tears and nodded reluctantly.
Brad, meanwhile, stared into Mosquito Girl's eyes, his heart full of worry.
PS1: New author, new book—please support it. This novel uses a fused anime-world setting, with One Piece as its main framework, incorporating most of Naruto, Hunter x Hunter, and Akame ga Kill, as well as a small number of characters from anime such as One Punch Man, Hellsing, Inuyasha, and Attack on Titan. The pacing may be somewhat slow at first.
PS: Xue Fazi is an original character. Raschi is a character from the previous generation of CP9 in the original One Piece; he was the one who followed Spandine during the Ohara Incident. There is intelligence suggesting he may be Kalifa's father, though that has not yet been confirmed.
