Luo Ze's sword was incredibly fast. This sudden, utterly untelegraphed slash came so swiftly that everyone present failed to react in time.
A red sword aura flashed past, leaving a sword mark in the hard clay floor of the hall. Several Navy soldiers ahead did not even have time to blink before Luo Ze's sword aura tore them cleanly in half.
Bright red blood flowed from the Navy soldiers' corpses, quickly pooling on the ground. The pungent stench of blood spread throughout the hall, and many Navy soldiers wore ugly expressions.
Killing Sword Luo Ze truly was as vicious as the rumors claimed... Even when killing someone, he made sure they died horribly.
"You still dare to resist? Do you have a death wish?"
Colonel Yate's expression was equally grim. He had personally led the troops, laid the trap, and cast a net over the place—yet Luo Ze still dared to kill right under his nose. He clearly had no respect for him at all.
"You really think you've got me cornered..."
Luo Ze shot Yate a mocking glance.
This Yate really thought that having more men meant he had already won. With this bunch of rabble, he was no match for Luo Ze at all.
Soon, Luo Ze swung his arm and casually slashed his sword, sending forth a massive red sword aura. The aura appeared incomparably sharp and dangerous as it hurtled wildly toward Colonel Yate.
Yate's eyelids twitched at the sight of the sharp slash. He abruptly drew a large saber from his back. After locking onto Luo Ze's attack, he swung his blade.
Clang! Clang! Clang!
The saber's edge scraped against the sword aura, producing a deafening sound. Red sparks slowly scattered through the air.
Tap, tap...
He suddenly took two steps back. With the saber in one hand, he twisted half his body with remarkable agility, switching hands to bleed off the force and narrowly avoiding Luo Ze's slash.
After evading Luo Ze's strike, Yate's eyes filled with killing intent. If his blade skills had dulled even slightly, Luo Ze's attack just now could have taken his life outright.
"Kill him!"
Colonel Yate was panting from exhaustion, but he still gestured to the Navy soldiers under his command and roared at them.
"Kill!"
A soldier's duty was to obey orders. Upon hearing Yate's command, the Marines did not hesitate in the slightest. With a loud shout, they all aimed at Luo Ze and pulled their triggers.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Rat-a-tat-tat!
As the triggers were pulled, bullets flew from the muskets' muzzles, raining down on Luo Ze like a meteor shower.
Moreover, gunfire was already loud to begin with. Now that over a hundred Marines were firing at once, the momentum was even more overwhelming. Several hundred bullets flew toward Luo Ze simultaneously. If he were hit, he would undoubtedly be riddled with holes.
Facing the bullet storm as countless as stars, Luo Ze's expression turned solemn.
He was a swordsman, not a Logia ability user immune to physical attacks. Furthermore, he had yet to learn Haki, and his body was extremely vulnerable. As such, even being struck by a single bullet would injure him.
"Guard Sword Form."
Luo Ze solemnly assumed a stance, snorting coldly in his heart as he focused all his strength on defense.
Guard Sword Form was Luo Ze's defensive technique.
He had only three moves: the Killing Sword Form for close combat, the Guard Sword Form for defense, and the Blood Sword Form he had used earlier to unleash sword slashes.
Although Luo Ze did not have many techniques, every one of them was practical. With these three sword forms, along with the Navy's Shave and Moonwalk, Luo Ze had won many life-and-death battles.
This time would be no different.
After assuming the Guard Sword Form, Luo Ze devoted his full attention to defense. Every swing of his sword precisely cut down several bullets. In that brief instant, he struck dozens of times, slicing apart every incoming bullet.
"Again!"
The Marines snorted coldly and pulled their triggers once more, firing hundreds more bullets at Luo Ze in an instant.
"Shave."
Luo Ze gave a cold snort. A strange sound suddenly rang out, and then his entire body vanished.
Rat-a-tat-tat!
Several hundred bullets struck the wall with violent impacts. The white wall was embedded with bullets, nearly riddled through.
"Where did he go?"
The Marines cried out in alarm and began searching left and right for Luo Ze. They had never seen anything so strange before. How could a living person simply vanish like that?
"Killing Sword Form."
Just as the Marines were filled with doubt, Luo Ze's voice suddenly rang out from within their ranks.
As his voice fell, the stench of blood rushed forth. Several pirates turned their heads, only to be cut in half by Luo Ze's blade.
Luo Ze's Killing Sword Form appeared utterly unstructured, with no fixed attack pattern. Every slash was impossible to predict and impossible to evade. The pirates he cut down met incomparably miserable ends—some lost hands and feet, exposing white bone. Some had chunks of their stomachs cut away, their intestines spilling out. Others had their heads split straight into two, cloudy brain matter flowing out.
"Ah! Save me!"
"M-monster!"
"..."
Such a bloody scene unfolding before their eyes filled the Navy soldiers with terror. It was not as though they had never experienced bloody battles, but they had never seen deaths so revolting.
One Navy soldier could not help taking a step back, only to step on something sticky. When he lifted his foot, he discovered that it was one of his comrade's eyeballs.
"Die..."
Luo Ze slaughtered the marines like a madman. He loved killing, reveling in the thrill of it. With every swing of his sword, he heard the marines' anguished cries, and it brought him immense satisfaction.
Very quickly, he massacred several hundred marines. Their various organs were scattered across the ground, some of them still twitching.
Luo Ze was covered in blood as well, though all of it belonged to his enemies. They had not even grazed him once. If he could, he wanted to give himself a slash too, just to see whether his own blood looked better than his enemies' blood.
But that was only a passing thought. Luo Ze knew he had no sense of restraint when striking. It would not be good if he accidentally killed himself with one blow.
"Now it's your turn..."
After killing the group of marine grunts, Luo Ze still felt unsatisfied. Gripping his longsword, he slowly walked toward Yate and Pulian.
Thud, thud, thud... Squelch, squelch...
Luo Ze's footsteps were crisp, each step producing a sound. Occasionally, however, he stepped on organs lying on the ground, making strange noises.
"D-Don't... don't come any closer!" Pulian's face had gone pale with fear. His hands trembled so badly that he could barely hold his sword.
Luo Ze looked at him coldly and casually swung his sword, cleaving him directly in half.
The long-haired woman who had been serving Yate was so frightened that her legs gave out. She fell to the ground with a slap, her pale thighs smeared with blood as she let out panicked screams.
"Annoying." Tired of hearing her, Luo Ze did not even look at the woman. He casually swung his sword and killed her as well, then turned his cold gaze to Yate.
"You're the only one left."
Luo Ze spoke calmly.
"You damned beast! You deserve to die!" Yate roared in fury.
Watching Luo Ze slaughter all his subordinates before his eyes had filled Yate with despair. Enraged, he drew his broadsword and gripped it tightly before bringing it down viciously at Luo Ze's head.
"Die, bastard!"
Yet Luo Ze remained expressionless in the face of Yate's strike. With a casual slash of his sword, he shattered Yate's broadsword and cut Yate's body in two along with it.
Then, he opened the wooden doors of the hall and slowly walked out. As he left, he muttered to himself.
"A bunch of idiots."
