Chapter 210: Soup and roast meat
Thanks to the book's thinness, Ruger still had plenty of time to read it and transcribe it in full, despite having spent so long searching for it. Looking at this thing in his hands, poised between reality and illusion, he suddenly felt as though he were bringing something long buried back into the light.
The Primal Instinct Ascension Ritual allowed those who underwent it to trace their primal instincts during meditation and better uncover their abilities as bloodline Wizards.
This Ascension Ritual was therefore designed primarily for bloodline Wizards. After a successful ascension, it allowed them to find a middle ground between reason and derangement, actively seeking out some of the primal instincts in their bloodlines and accepting them without losing themselves. To an extent, it addressed one of the fundamental problems of the bloodline Wizard path, but it merely reduced the bloodline's influence on their minds. It had no direct effect on the physical collapse caused by bloodline fusion. Still, greater mental clarity and the pursuit and acceptance of their bloodlines could indirectly ease that collapse a little.
Tracing primal instincts through the Ascension Ritual required persistent effort during meditation. As they unearthed more of their bloodlines, the associated abilities and spells would gradually grow stronger.
Ruger put away his transcription and continued searching the shelves.
This discovery cemented his resolve to stay in this section.
He felt conflicted now. On the one hand, he wanted the old woman's experiment to succeed quickly so he would not get caught up in it. On the other, he hoped she would progress more slowly, giving him more opportunities to explore this ancient library that hovered between reality and illusion.
Suddenly, a book caught his eye. Its spine bore fairly clear lettering and a triangular design.
