In his terror, Ruger felt a swelling pain in his head and eyes. His eyeballs seemed to be bulging, too. Fortunately, he could move again, though barely. Zhizhi noticed something was wrong and immediately bit down on his leg, but he hurriedly stopped her. That single tug from Zhizhi had nearly pulled his eyeballs out of their sockets, as though an invisible thread were drawing them out.
It was the puddle of water floating before him.
That strange thing, formed from the tears he had shed, was tugging at both his eyes.
Ruger wasn't afraid. He was mostly surprised by the novelty of it, and even felt a little pleased that Foul-Smelling Skin was working.
This meant Foul-Smelling Skin involved Origin Power. After their last encounter with the nightmare demon, Layden had mentioned that Origin Power was something ordinary Wizard Apprentices, and even One-Ring Wizards, rarely dealt with. Even those who did dabble in it didn't necessarily possess spells suited to combat. Unless one's nightmare organs had been cultivated to an exceptionally powerful level, only spells and bloodline abilities involving Origin Power could harm nightmare demons.
Origin Power also had different levels, but even the lowest level was something exceptionally precious to him.
Enduring the discomfort in his eyes and the swelling ache in his head, Ruger unleashed the second form of Foul-Smelling Skin without restraint. He knew that probably only this second form involved Origin Power. To avoid exposing his permanently imprinted spell, he had rarely used its first form anymore. After all, that was nothing more than a stink. Though it could knock people unconscious, it would probably only cause a slight distraction for a Level-Five Wizard Apprentice.
He felt that if he hadn't seen that pure-white skeletal hand as enormous as a towering tree, he would probably
