Chapter 371: Contracts and Notes
Ruger blinked as he looked at the smiling Kurt.
The completed contract floated up before them, drifting between the two as it slowly burned, proclaiming that the contract had been formed. At the instant it burned away, the written terms remained where they were, then gradually faded and vanished completely.
"You probably guessed it already. I don't have any friends here that I can truly trust. The fellow on the neighboring island had been fairly decent, and I had intended to spend more time with him, get to know him better. Unfortunately, there hasn't been anyone there for fifteen years now. Opportunity and disaster—one never knows which will arrive first," Kurt said with a smile. "Compared to casually picking some passing traveler, wizard apprentices whose backgrounds I know nothing about, or the masters of other islands who might become rivals, I think finding pillars like you is a better choice. And Demon Hunter Wizards tend to be rather skilled at dealing with demons."
Ruger felt a little awkward at that.
First of all, he was not particularly skilled at dealing with demons.
And pillar-level organizations were still made up of wizards with vastly different ways of thinking. Looking at the general direction, they might indeed be somewhat better than wizards of unknown origins, but that was only a matter of probability.
