The flesh Ruger casually tore from his shoulder writhed and turned into a book. It was the first time he had encountered something so bizarre.
Yet during that seemingly long but actually brief Entanglement, he had still noticed a pattern. The strange transformations between man and book could be used to escape danger, even to pull free from the brink of death. But it was not without a price. Though it was not obvious, Ruger had noticed that the fellow's dazzling blood-red glow was no longer as bright as before. The same was true of both book and man, and it could only be observed in the instant after each transformation. He dimmed every time, only forcing himself back to his previous level once the transformation was complete.
Naturally, something strange and unfathomable had to be dealt with quickly. But when Ruger saw the other party tuck one of his hairs into the book, his eyes widened despite himself.

Ruger looked up at him, his eyes full of curiosity. The other party was looking at Ruger too, though his expression had changed slightly.
"My promise still stands. As long as you leave that strange thing in your hand behind as compensation, I can accept this defeat and give this place to you." The red-skinned Wizard split his enormous Demon mouth in a grin, and the smile looked utterly hateful.
Looking at his smile, Ruger could not help sinking into thought. Did he look this ugly when he smiled after turning into a Demon?
