Gracefully curved horns emerged from Ruger's head, and spiral patterns appeared across his body.
His eyes widened. Invisible mental power collided as though it were solid, holding back the purple tide.
The arrogant invaders should have done their research. Even their incomplete intelligence should have mentioned that wizards were creatures skilled in mental power, yet it still chose to do this. Perhaps that very fact showed that they had come prepared. As members of the noble Conquerors, they had to make preparations, such as changing the techniques they used to wield mental power.
Perhaps that was precisely why they had sent this creature over before any high-rank wizards arrived.
It was a prudent choice, and paying a price to send it over was reasonable.
