Self-Sacrifice and Devotion

As Chu busily organized operations among its kin, it sensed one of them contacting it and attempting to converse.

"What is it?" Chu asked.

"Chu, if you intend to learn how to use the Spirit Realm through the people of the Holy Womban State, then I must remind you that it won't work. We can't use the Spirit Realm."

After Chu's inquiry, the individual sent this response. Based on that fragment of information, Chu replied.

"Your reminder is meaningless. I haven't forgotten that the Spirit Sovereigns have always been a problem for our race. It was precisely because of them that our race abandoned the development and use of the Spirit Realm."

How could the Collectors not want to apply the effects displayed by the Spirit Realm to their race? But they could not, because the Spirit Realm was the Spirit Sovereigns' territory. There, they had the final say; even God had to step aside.

After Huo Gu first entered the Spirit Realm and repeatedly tested Pilgrim artifacts, entering the Spirit Realm was no longer difficult for the Collectors. Their method was simply more cumbersome, complicated, and troublesome than that used by the Holy Womban State's pilots.

Yet unlike those Holy Womban State pilots, every time the Collectors entered the Spirit Realm, they were practically courting death. Their chances of survival approached zero infinitely, and every expedition into the Spirit Realm would encounter Spirit Sovereigns almost immediately.

Defeating the Spirit Sovereigns within the Spirit Realm was simply impossible. That was the lesson the Collectors had learned at the cost of mountains of corpses and seas of blood. Aside from a few limitations, the Spirit Sovereigns could basically do anything they wished within the Spirit Realm.

Chu would not, and dared not, forget any of this.
