The Kess aerial and space forces that had intercepted the swarm were, unsurprisingly, wiped out to the last. Reality was not some glorious heroic biography, nor would the Kess aerial and space forces suddenly gain a massive boost in combat power simply because of their resolve and courage in the face of certain death, killing every invading enemy.

After eliminating the Kess aerial and space forces, the Collectors stopped concerning themselves with outside matters and instead devoted their attention to studying the Zerg combat organisms.

In fact, to study the design of the massive ray-like flying creature it currently inhabited, the Collector did not need to deliberately dissect it. That was a terribly outdated method of acquiring information.
