Initial Clash Between Both Sides

The Zerg swarm launched an attack on the nearest enemy large-scale space units. Vast quantities of acid shells, ion plasma, and parasites and spores used as projectiles were fired.

The varieties were numerous, but the delivery methods were far too uniform. Essentially, all of them could be understood as kinetic attacks.

In space, because of the sheer scale involved, kinetic attacks generally suffered from severe delays.

That gave the Collectors' biological radar room to shine. High-powered radar waves spread outward at light speed, encountered the kinetic attacks released by the Zerg swarm, and some of those radar waves made contact with the projectiles before returning to their source at light speed, thereby revealing the position of every projectile released by the Zerg.

Then, using newly cultivated large thermal laser cannons, the cooling megastructure vaporized every kinetic attack the Zerg had launched.

The Zerg did not know that the cooling megastructure had fired lasers, but they possessed heat-source detection. They could see that after heat signatures appeared on the cooling megastructure, the projectiles they had released would likewise show rising heat signatures until they matched those on the cooling megastructure.

At that moment, the Zerg command hierarchy felt for the first time that the Zerg's methods of attack had major shortcomings.

In the past, they had always used spirit-domain jumps to directly close the distance to enemy space units, then relied on the Zerg organisms' fearless ferocity to devour all their enemies.

But things were different now. The scale was too vast, and for some unknown reason, spirit-domain jumps could not be used. The Zerg swarm could only slowly approach the enemy's large space units as they were now, while the kinetic attacks they launched also needed a very long time to reach the enemy.

The delay was too long—long enough
