The upper ranks of Konak Utopia had gathered in the hall. The Konak seated at the head asked, "When did this happen?"
"Just now. We lost contact with every frontline warrior corps..." one of the high-ranking officials replied.
It was staggering bad news. To fight the Collectors, Konak Utopia had spared no expense, deploying nearly sixty percent of its combat corps.
They had thought that even if they could not defeat the Amoeba race, they could at least hold them back, dragging them into a war of attrition and buying Konak as a whole time to recover.
The Collectors' attack had come too suddenly, leaving Konak's war preparations incomplete from beginning to end.
In truth, the Collectors' actions were easy enough to understand. They would not foolishly stand by and wait for Konak Utopia to finish its preparations before launching their harvesting offensive. All is fair in war; that principle never grew outdated.
Another high-ranking official continued his report. "The fighting was extremely intense. Its brutality was nearly unprecedented in Utopia's history. More than ninety percent of our forces were killed. The frontline warrior corps have likely already..."
As he reached that point, the official stopped himself. Though he did not finish, everyone present could guess what he had wanted to say.
The Konak at the head issued an order. "Dispatch a small scouting team to investigate the battlefield. I want detailed intelligence."
"Yes. We will make the arrangements immediately," a high-ranking official answered.
No one knew how long the discussion had lasted when, all of a sudden, a warrior rushed in from outside and truthfully reported to Konak Utopia's upper ranks.
"Report! A warrior corps has returned safely!"
"Oh? Lead us there at once!"
The expressions of the high-ranking officials changed. They hurriedly rose to their feet and ordered
