The faster-than-light organisms that received the message added a special kind of living bullet to their firing sequences, then launched them from temporarily evolved bio-electromagnetic cannons, scattering them across the battlefield.
The Seventh Tier combat units locked in deadly battle with the Collectors used spirit realm jumps to teleport and evade throughout the stellar battlefield. Yet faced with living bullets flying in every direction and filling the battlefield, they had nowhere to hide.
After taking several living bullets head-on, the Seventh Tier warriors who had been hit saw that the bullets had not caused much damage to their combat units. They no longer regarded the living bullets as a threat and completely ignored them during subsequent spirit realm jumps.
However, the bullets released by the Collectors could not possibly be so simple.
These bullets were alive. They were indeed inanimate objects when fired, but some time after striking Seventh Tier combat units, they "came alive."
The principle involved was viral organisms. Their defining trait was that they could repeatedly switch between inanimate and living states. Using this trait, it was possible to create an "inanimate object" that "came alive" on the spot.
Inside the bullets were Collector lifeforms composed of viral organism cells. At this stage, they were in a "dead" state
