After Tao Pai Pai knocked Tien Shinhan unconscious and tossed him off the ring to Master Shen, the first match officially ended.
The second match finally came around to Goku—but his opponent was Chi-Chi.
The two stood on opposite sides of the ring. Chi-Chi still looked furious. The moment the referee called the start, she rushed at Goku and launched a fierce barrage of attacks.
Goku was still confused. Unable to figure out what was going on, he could only keep his head down and dodge while asking questions.
"Have I really met you before? Did you mistake me for someone else?"
"Really? When?"
"It's because you forgot everything that I'm so angry."
"You don't understand how us girls feel either. I've been waiting for you all this time."
After answering, Chi-Chi grew even angrier, and her attacks became fiercer, until Goku asked again.
"You said you were waiting for me? What were you waiting for me to do?"
"You even forgot our promise?"
"A promise? You mean one between you and me?" Still completely baffled, Goku kept dodging as he asked questions.
"That's right." Chi-Chi answered without slowing her attacks in the slightest. The two fought from the ground all the way into the air.
By the time they landed, Chi-Chi had vented most of her anger, and Goku continued asking.
"What exactly did I promise you? Tell me."
"No matter what, you still can't remember? Then I'll tell you. You once promised that when I grew up, you would come marry me and make me your bride," Chi-Chi said angrily.
The spectators below and behind the ring were utterly stunned. Only Ye Bai, standing up high, watched with the expression of someone enjoying a juicy show.
"Looks like you finally remembered." Seeing Goku's expression, Chi-Chi thought he had finally understood.
After thinking for a moment, Goku spotted Krillin hiding behind the wall and finally asked the question.
"Krillin, what's a bride? Hurry up and tell me."
Ye Bai's mouth twitched at the sight. What an idiot.
Everyone was stunned speechless. Krillin climbed up and cursed, "You big idiot! Marrying her and making her your bride means the two of you are getting married!"
Yamcha also climbed up, pressed Krillin back down, and answered, "It means you'll become husband and wife and live together forever."
Krillin said jealously, "You little brat, since when did you get engaged to such a cute girl? That's so unfair! I didn't even know!"
Only then did Goku react. He turned to Chi-Chi and asked, "Live together? With you? Did I promise you something like that? Who are you?"
"Please, tell me already."
"Hmph! Honestly, what am I supposed to do with you? I'll tell you—but first, you have to beat me," Chi-Chi answered, still angry.
"Really? That's great! I thought I was going to have to live with some girl whose name I didn't even know." Goku happily looked at the cute girl before him, making Ye Bai want to smack him.
"Hmph! You sound like you're sure you've already won, don't you?"
"How naive. If you think I'll be defeated that easily, then you're seriously mistaken," Chi-Chi replied, her voice still full of emotion.
Oolong finally understood and began explaining things to Bulma and the others. Up above, Ye Bai rolled a small pebble between his fingers, considering whether he should tease Goku a little.
"Alright, I'm going to attack you now," Goku said to Chi-Chi, his face full of eagerness to learn the truth.
"If you can defeat me, then go ahead and try." Chi-Chi looked equally confident that she would not be beaten so easily.
After taking his stance, Goku threw a punch. The force of his fist sent Chi-Chi flying, blasting her out of the ring and into the outer wall before she fell to the ground.
Ye Bai put away the pebble in his hand. He had forgotten that small detail—that Goku defeated Chi-Chi with the force of his punch—and sighed.
Goku walked to the edge of the ring, crouched down, and asked, "Hey, are you okay? Hang in there."
Below the ring, Chi-Chi clutched her aching head and sat on the ground for a while before getting back up. "That was incredible. I never expected you to become so strong."
After climbing back onto the ring, Chi-Chi continued, "Just as expected of the man I chose to be my husband."
"What's your name?" Goku still hadn't remembered.
"You still can't remember? I'm the Ox-King's daughter, Chi-Chi," she said, rubbing the painful back of her head.
Upon hearing the name, Goku finally exclaimed in shock, "Chi-Chi?"
"Chi-Chi? That Chi-Chi?" The image of Chi-Chi as she used to be appeared in Goku's mind, and he could hardly believe it.
"I remember now! I did say it—I really did say I'd marry you and make you my bride!" Goku remembered everything, including the kick he had given her when they were children.
"You finally remembered." Seeing the idiot before her, Chi-Chi finally felt relieved.
"I always thought a bride was something delicious to eat!"
"Something delicious?" Chi-Chi immediately grew nervous after hearing that. Looking at Goku pitifully, she asked, "Then... what about our promise?"
"But it's fine. Since I promised you, then let's get married!" After thinking for a moment, Goku said this, then turned and walked over to Chi-Chi, looking at her with a resolute expression.
And just like that, after Goku and Chi-Chi confirmed their engagement on the ring, the announcer began cheering them on, and the entire audience applauded and blessed the newly engaged pair.
Standing atop the arena, Piccolo's face turned green with rage. The people beneath the ring had yet to recover from the shock, while Krillin in the rest area behind the ring was consumed by envy and jealousy.
Only Ye Bai thought this was pretty good for Goku. Many people said Chi-Chi had a bad temper, but they never considered that after getting married, Goku was barely ever home. Saiyans also had enormous appetites, yet Chi-Chi supported the family by herself and kept the household in perfect order. Besides, this time Ye Bai had prepared the startup funds for their little home. Chi-Chi was a rare good wife and mother, and their future was promising.
