The moment Albert appeared, Su Li had already assessed his strength.
This was another use of spiritual power: judging an enemy's approximate rank based on the strength of their aura.
Albert had fully unleashed his aura upon arrival to intimidate the intruders, allowing Su Li to clearly determine his rank.
Bronze Rank 8.
His strength was quite terrifying, but White Fox possessed the skills Shapeshift and Windwalk, so she could definitely keep him occupied.
Su Li could also choose to kill this vampire. With Su Miaohan and White Fox joining forces, victory was assured.
But his primary objective was still Grantis, and he did not know when Baron Carlos would return, so he made his decision.
The castle was magnificent and luxurious, yet shrouded in a gloomy darkness that made it feel rather sinister.
Su Li headed straight for the highest floor. Along the way, Su Miaohan instantly killed every vampire guard that attacked them. The difference in strength was simply too great—she took them down almost one slash at a time.
They soon reached the top of the castle.
A red carpet stretched far into the distance, ending before an exceptionally luxurious black door.
Su Li took a deep breath and pushed open the door.
The room was enormous, decorated like a princess's chamber and woven from black two-toned silk, lavish and splendid.
"Mmgh! Mmghhh!" Heavy, muffled breathing came from the center of the room, where a blood-covered man was bound to a chair with thorny vines. His mouth was gagged, and his expression was filled with terror.
Bright red blood dripped down the thorny vines, a horrifying sight.
Su Li's gaze moved from near to far, eventually landing on the figure in the corner.
That beautiful long white hair was now a complete mess. The vampire girl shook her head erratically, her hands violently tearing apart a doll on the floor.
Her pupils had lost their color, as desolate and lifeless as death itself, while she muttered meaningless words under her breath.
The sound of Su Li opening the door did not affect her in the slightest.
His head began to ache. He had no idea where to start with the task of helping Grantis regain herself. The limited information he had was that the vampire had once said Grantis had resisted the will of becoming a thrall, causing her to descend into madness.
Suddenly, the vampire girl's delicate body began to tremble violently. She clutched her hair and let out a hysterical, low growl.
Grantis abruptly turned around. Her beautiful face was haggard and pale, her crimson pupils flickering with red light.
She stared fixedly at the blood-covered man—or rather, at the surging blood flowing from him.
"Ahhh!" The white-haired girl let out a hoarse roar and bit down on her lower lip. Blood spilled out and trickled down her pale neck.
"So that's it." Su Li felt that he was getting close to the truth.
He made a guess. After Grantis became a vampire, her human will had remained intact, desperately fighting against the desire to drink blood.
As time passed, her mind had reached the brink of collapse.
Baron Carlos had placed such "food" before Grantis precisely to tempt her into breaking through that boundary and becoming a true vampire.
What a strong girl.
Only an unwavering will could resist that primal desire for blood.
Su Li had once read this in materials left behind during the final lucid moments of a card master corrupted by the bloodkin.
Yet Grantis's will was actually this tenacious.
He took Viper's Kiss from Su Miaohan and cut the man free from his restraints.
"Thank you! Thank you!" the man said shakily. Covered in blood and being eerily watched by a vampire, he was scared nearly out of his wits.
"Wait for me outside the door. I'll take you away afterward," Su Li instructed. This man certainly could not escape the castle on his own.
"Thank you!" the man said gratefully as he staggered away.
Su Li closed the door, sat down in a chair, and stared at Grantis.
He was waiting for Grantis to calm down.
"Grantis, wake up."
"Grantis, wake up."
In the empty room, Su Li softly murmured her name, his voice gentle as he called to her. He was very patient and continued without stopping.
The battle before the ancient castle was incredibly fierce. Su Xiaobai's needles pinned vampire after vampire to the ground as she fought Albert.
Both sides continued to suffer injuries. White Fox, at Bronze Rank 7, was actually locked in an even battle with Albert.
Although Albert was powerful, his bloodline was inferior to Grantis's. He was crude and straightforward, possessing nothing but brute force, and White Fox toyed with him at every turn.
His eyes had gone red with killing intent, but the damned fox before him kept growing and shrinking, causing many of his attacks to miss their mark.
"Who... are you?"
Grantis gradually calmed down. The bloody light in her eyes faded somewhat as she struggled to speak.
"I'm just a passing masked rider. More importantly, who are you?" Su Li asked with a smile.
"I am... Who am I?" Grantis clutched her head again, and her mental fluctuations began to grow unstable once more.
"Don't rush. Think slowly," Su Li said gently.
Grantis gradually calmed down. Her eyes were hollow. After being captured by Baron Carlos and turned into a thrall, the helplessness of facing evil alone had finally eased.
That sense of tension vanished. The human before her felt warm, and now she finally had time to think about some things.
Moonlight streamed through the window.
Memories began to surface.
She was Grantis.
She was the cherished daughter of a demon-hunting family.
The meaning of her existence was to kill every monster that encroached upon humanity.
Yet now, she had become a vampire.
"I've become a vampire..." Two trails of bloody tears flowed from Grantis's eyes.
Even her tears were red.
She was on the verge of a mental breakdown again, but a warm palm pressed down on her head.
"Whether human or vampire, it's only a general label. What matters is that you are still Grantis." Su Li's tone was gentle.
"What should I do?" Grantis's voice trembled as she collapsed onto the floor.
Su Li's tone grew grave. "Kill them. Kill them all."
"They drink human blood, so drink theirs.
"Carry everything that belonged to the original owner of that blood, and wipe out every one of these damned creatures."
Color returned to Grantis's pupils. She knelt before Su Li, gently grasped the hand resting on her head, and lowered her head.
"Help me."
In her field of vision, a beautiful parasol appeared.
Outside the ancient castle.
White Fox leaped high into the air in its smallest form, overlapping with the moon. Activating Shapeshift, it transformed into a ten-meter beast in an instant. It unleashed Tail Drop; its massive fox tail glowed as it plummeted at extreme speed.
"Damn fox!" Albert roared. Covered in blood, he swung the spear in his hand and charged toward Su Xiaobai.
Boom!
The blow unleashed a sonic wave that swept through the surroundings.
Albert's body fell before the castle gates. He had been slain across ranks by White Fox, a Bronze Rank Seven beast!
The gates suddenly opened.
A young man slowly emerged, holding hands with a white-haired vampire girl carrying a beautiful parasol.
Su Li pointed at Albert and said, "You're still not strong enough. Become stronger, Grantis."
The white-haired vampire girl slowly closed her parasol. Blood-red light flickered in her pupils as she pounced on Albert!
Two small fangs glinted white beneath the moonlight. Grantis bit down on Albert's neck and sucked frantically.
