Su Li arrived at Third High School's Card Master Court.
He sat quietly at the "plaintiff's" stand, recalling Card Master Yan Mo's words:
"They went a little too far this time. We need to make them cough something up."
This was probably Third High School's compensation to him. After all, the conflict had been started by Third High School and had escalated beyond expectations. Someone had crossed the line.
He understood Third High School's actions, but the resentment in his heart could not be calmed. Fortunately, Third High School had seen things through properly.
On the circular platform in the hall, a person was bound in iron chains. It was Zhou Qing.
Someone had treated part of his injuries. It was not yet time for him to face punishment.
Zhou Qing knelt there with his head lowered, his hair hanging loose. His grayish-blue skin stood in stark contrast to the bright lights.
He was unconscious, suppressed by a mysterious card to keep him from going mad and causing trouble.
Su Li meditated quietly. Third High School was still making preparations, leaving him with nothing to do but wait here.
After an unknown amount of time, the doors opened.
Several young card masters entered the Card Master Court. They were some of Third High School's most prominent figures, including Jiang Mingyue, Bai Moxue, and Lu Chenfeng.
Su Li greeted the two of them.
Lu Chenfeng returned the greeting with a smile, while Bai Moxue made a face at him.
Jiang Mingyue glanced at Su Li without saying a word, then strode away on her long legs clad in black stockings and found a seat.
"Heh, this really isn't fit to be seen," a young card master chuckled after glancing at Zhou Qing. It was Dongfang Mingyuan, a longtime member of the top ten.
Most powerful clans raised evil card masters to handle matters that could not be dealt with openly, but it was always kept absolutely secret. This was taboo, and even if discovered, they could deny any connection.
Since the Alliance tacitly allowed such things, there were clearly deep waters involved.
Opening the Card Master Court this time was merely the academy's warning to the Wang family. Directly accusing the Wang family was unrealistic.
"Filthy thing." Bai Moxue looked at Zhou Qing with disgust.
Evil card masters deserved no sympathy. They had made their own choices and could never escape the control of corruption. They were absolute tumors.
"How pathetic." Lu Chenfeng smiled faintly, clearly implying something.
After a while, Card Master Yan Mo entered through the doors, dressed in a judge's robes. It seemed that he would preside over the trial.
The middle-aged card master winked at Su Li, then composed himself and solemnly walked to the judge's seat.
Old fox.
Su Li returned his smile, inwardly grumbling.
Another person entered—the vice dean, Wang Tiangan.
Expressionless, he coolly swept his gaze over Su Li and Zhou Qing before taking a seat beside Card Master Yan Mo.
Wang Shiyu arrived shortly afterward.
His state was unexpected. He wore a smile, seemingly in an excellent mood, and even greeted Su Li.
"Su Li, it seems there has been a misunderstanding between us. Once it is cleared up, allow me to host a banquet and properly thank my lifesaver."
His ability to change faces was practically a supreme skill, leaving Su Li speechless.
Wang Shiyu swept his gaze across the court and walked to the "defendant's" stand, utterly composed, without the slightest hint of nervousness or concern.
"Heh." Lu Chenfeng laughed aloud, showing Wang Shiyu no respect at all.
"How shameless." Bai Moxue rolled her eyes.
The atmosphere was exceedingly strange, as though everyone knew that Zhou Qing was connected to Wang Shiyu.
Tap! Tap! Tap!
The sound of high heels striking the floor echoed through the silent room.
A pair of red stiletto heels appeared first. A beautiful blonde woman in a black-and-gold qipao strode into the court on her long legs.
So sexy.
That thought surfaced in everyone's mind.
The atmosphere grew somewhat stifling. This blonde beauty's presence was far too overwhelming. As her deep, beautiful eyes swept over the court, everyone felt immense pressure.
Some of the younger card masters were excited—not that kind of excited, though perhaps a little of it was. More than that, they were thrilled at seeing a legendary figure.
They adjusted their breathing, unable to let themselves lose composure and lower her opinion of them.
She was a major figure with a certain degree of renown throughout the entire Alliance. Now that she had become the principal of Third High School in Cool City, most of them had transferred here because of her.
The beautiful woman clicked across the floor in her red stilettos and sat on Yan Mo's other side. Her red lips parted slightly as she spoke in a pleasant voice:
"Begin."
Even Card Master Yan Mo could not help but feel a little nervous. This great figure's presence was simply too imposing.
He gathered himself and declared in a clear voice:
"I will preside over this judgment."
Not long ago, Su Li was attacked by an evil card master. We eventually learned that this evil card master was also a student of our Third High School—Zhou Qing."
His tone gradually turned solemn. "As everyone knows, evil card masters have fallen into depravity. They are cruel, violent, and utterly irrational, standing in opposition to card master society.
The Card Master Alliance has always taken the harshest measures against such individuals.
I deeply regret that someone like this appeared in our Third High School, but that is not today's focus."
He paused briefly, sweeping his gaze over Su Li and Wang Shiyu before saying in a deep voice, "What we need to do is trace the source and completely prevent such things from happening again."
Wang Shiyu said loudly, "There was most likely a misunderstanding. My pet Husky was once brutally killed by an evil card master, and I too despise evil card masters with every fiber of my being."
He smiled, utterly shameless.
"The judge did not permit you to speak, so do not speak," Wang Tiangan said indifferently.
Everyone knew that the two of them belonged to the same family.
Card Master Yan Mo flipped through the documents before looking up and saying:
"Student Wang Shiyu, we conducted a thorough investigation.
Zhou Qing came from an ordinary family. It would have been difficult for him to come into contact with corrupted cards unless someone deliberately guided him and provided them.
We traced his movements and found something suspicious.
On the day Su Li and Bai Moxue fought, did you invite Zhou Qing to speak with you?"
Wang Shiyu answered, "Yes. That day, I was somewhat emotional. After suffering defeat in the Forest of Blood, I kept focusing on the fact that the school would rescue us, and actually blamed our lifesaver.
That was why I sought out Zhou Qing, who was likewise dissatisfied with Su Li, to talk. But we were merely sharing a common enemy from one side, and soon parted ways.
Later, after I calmed down and reflected on myself, I came to understand Su Li better.
Now I know that Su Li is not that kind of person. He simply wanted to help us, but someone secretly took photos and deliberately misled everyone.
I was indeed at fault—at fault for lacking the ability to distinguish right from wrong. I hope that after this hearing, I can become friends with Su Li."
"Knowing your mistakes and correcting them is very good." Wang Tiangan nodded.
Everyone's cheeks twitched. This was far too shameless. Were they putting on a double act here?
Card Master Yan Mo spoke up. "Then let us hear what this evil card master has to say."
He snapped his fingers, and a card flew back from Zhou Qing's body into his hand.
Zhou Qing woke groggily, a hoarse, heavy sound emerging from his throat.
His vision was blurred, and the lights overhead were painfully glaring. He had been treated; while the source of his corruption could not be cleansed, some of the corrupt energy could be dispelled.
For a brief moment, he regained his sense of self.
"Su Li." He let out a low growl.
Su Li was speechless. Had this hatred truly sunk into his bones?
Zhou Qing opened his eyes and understood his situation. When he saw Wang Shiyu, it was as though he had seized a lifeline.
"Young Master Wang, Young Master Wang! Save me!"
