My Relatives All Want to Be Hokage Author: Digital Old Demon

Synopsis:

When Naruto was young, the first thing he saw every morning upon opening his eyes was the giant faces on Hokage Rock. From the windows of Uchiha Shingen's home, the first thing he saw was the Police Force headquarters; as for Hokage Rock, he could only make out its outline.

He did not dare dream of attaining all-encompassing power, but he ought to try climbing higher to see a better view.

PS: As for the original plot and setting, everything is based on the manga only (excluding Boruto, Itachi Shinden, the TV anime, and the movies), mainly because I only have the manga set on hand.

Volume One

This Round Might Be Soon

The main urban area of the Hidden Leaf Village had been built along the eastern mountain range, spreading out in a 130-degree fan centered on Hokage Rock and divided into the southern, northern, and western districts. The Ninja Academy, hospital, and Hokage Building all stood beneath Hokage Rock. The Police Force, meanwhile, was located on the commercial street in the southern district, far from Hokage Rock but conveniently positioned for prisoner transfers with the prison in the southern mountains.

When Naruto was young, the first thing he saw every morning upon opening his eyes was the giant faces on Hokage Rock.

From the windows of Uchiha Shingen's home, the first thing he saw was the Police Force headquarters; as for Hokage Rock, he could only make out its outline.

A beautiful day began with embracing the first ray of morning sunlight.

Awakened by the sunlight, Uchiha Shingen genuinely loved the sun.

As someone who had gotten to fleece this world... no, who had transmigrated twice in succession, he had to keep his composure and not make a fuss over every little thing.

During his previous transmigration, he had watched the clan head grow into the God of Shinobi, only to fight his best friend until he collapsed from exhaustion. Some years later, under the orders of the new clan head, Shingen had participated in the meat grinder known as the Ninja World War—and, unsurprisingly, become one of its scraps of flesh.

This time might be shorter, because what happened yesterday made him feel that this round was coming soon.

Yesterday, the Hokage had changed. The new one was named Namikaze Minato.

He rolled out of bed, took a shower, washed up, and tidied his room. Then Uchiha Shingen put on the standard Police Force uniform and left home for work.

No one else was home. Both his parents were alive and well, and both were busy running shops.

At least the knowledge he had accumulated in his previous life had not disappeared. He had awakened his Sharingan at ten, putting him above the clan average. People had even called him a genius. Now, at seventeen, he had steadily reached the three-tomoe stage.

He could not compare to those cheating monsters, but he was doing all right. After all, the Third Shinobi World War had only just ended, and everyone was still human.

He did not dare dream of attaining all-encompassing power, but he ought to try climbing higher to see a better view.

Otherwise, someday, he could only be hung from a utility pole by that great filial son and left to blow in the wind.

As he walked through the clan compound, the scenery by the roadside was monotonous. The Uchiha residences were highly uniform in style, and even the clan members who had become ninja dressed in much the same way, displaying the clan's strict adherence to tradition.

After leaving the clan compound and crossing the commercial street, Uchiha Shingen arrived at the Police Force headquarters. His eyes first fell on the building's most conspicuous emblem.

At the center of the striking shuriken insignia was the even more conspicuous Uchiha clan crest, symbolizing that the Uchiha and the Police Force, one of Konoha's six departments, were one and the same. It was also the limit of the power the Uchiha possessed within Konoha.

Just as he was about to enter the Police Force, he saw a member of the force escorting someone outside.

The man looked somewhat stern.

"Shingen, it's your turn for the morning shift today?" Seeing Uchiha Shingen, Mr. Stern no longer looked quite so stern.

"Brother Huangmen." Uchiha Shingen nodded to him and walked inside.

A true nodding acquaintance.

More importantly, being late meant a pay cut. The Police Force paid well, but its deductions were harsh too.

Of course, there was usually plenty of extra income.

The Uchiha of the Police Force, from top to bottom, all skimmed money, and they did so with perfect justification.

Making money for training was nothing to be ashamed of.

In the ninja world, taking the high-end route required the bloodline of the Sage of Six Paths. At present, the only ones with the purest bloodline who were still working as ninja were the Uchiha.

Indra and Ashura each displayed the power they inherited from the Sage of Six Paths through the ultimate forms of Yin Release and Yang Release, respectively.

But that did not mean Indra possessed none of the Sage's body power at all.

They were both the Sage's sons. They all had what they should have had; only the proportions differed. Naturally, each focused on their own strengths.

The same was true for their descendants.

The Senju Clan specialized in Yang Release, but the Uchiha could train it too. Though its efficiency could not compare to focusing solely on cultivating the Sharingan, the subtleties within it were known only to Uchiha Shingen himself.

He might have had doubts before, but after honing himself through a round of battlefield experience, he had come to firmly believe in this path.

He went to the reporting station, clocked in, and received his patrol assignment.

Today's task was to inspect several streets in the western district. The workload was light, and he did not need a partner.

The western district lay farthest from Hokage Rock and was heavily divided by forests, rivers, and lakes. Most of its residents worked in agriculture, while its commerce mainly consisted of small independent businesses.

Although it was remote and commercially underdeveloped, its active social organizations had instead flourished even more vigorously.

The Uchiha of the Police Force might have skimmed money, but they were not without principles.

Once a public security incident occurred, no amount of money could help. Every last person involved would be taken away. Those who should be detained would be detained, and those who should go to prison would go to prison.

Leaping continuously across the rooftops, Uchiha Shingen gradually approached the western district.

Compared to the orderly southern and northern districts, the western district looked winding and uneven from above. The section connecting the southern and northern districts formed an inverted triangle. Further inward, buildings began to crowd into an extremely dense strip between vast fields and forests on both sides, only to be forced into a great curve by the large lake at its center. After passing through that narrow stretch, the area broadened again and connected to the western gate's wall district.

Patrolling this place was not exactly a good assignment. The streets here twisted in complicated ways, and the sanitation was relatively poor.

Today, Uchiha Shingen was patrolling the section near the lake.

After entering his assigned patrol area, Uchiha Shingen landed on the street.

He had to stay here for three hours. Once a colleague came to relieve him, he could return and register the mission as complete.

During that time, Uchiha Shingen's job was to make sure the people on the street could see him, showing that the Police Force was maintaining order here.

Even as a land blessed by fate in the world of the Hokage, a place where hot-blooded protagonists gathered, the Hidden Leaf Village—being the Land of Fire's largest autonomous city-state and free trade zone—inevitably had all kinds of social darkness. But at its core, it was a military base, and its methods of governance were simple.

Uchiha Shingen first went into a nearby shop and slurped down a bowl of ramen, then began his patrol.

An hour passed quickly. Out of boredom, he bought himself another popsicle.

The surroundings were filled with a healthy, uplifting atmosphere. The occasional furtive gaze would swiftly vanish into some shadowy alley.

But during the daytime, there was no darkness in the Hidden Leaf.

And if there was, the Police Force would make sure there wasn't.

After the second hour passed, Uchiha Shingen bought a candied hawthorn skewer.

He looked very relaxed, and in truth, he really was.

After all, patrols were never mainly aimed at ordinary people.

After eating the last candied hawthorn, Uchiha wiped his mouth and continued strolling through the streets.

With half an hour left, he finally found something to do: he caught a pickpocket and had a Shadow Clone escort him away.

The final half hour passed without incident. Once the time was up, he left behind a Shadow Clone to wait for the handover and swiftly headed back.

Turns Out They Were Allies

After returning to the Police Force, Uchiha Shingen first went to the office to register his report. Watching the clansman in charge put a checkmark in his mission record, he happily prepared to head home.

"Brother Shingen."

The voice behind him made Uchiha Shingen stop.

Turning around, he saw a familiar face and smiled.

"Tekka, long time no see."

This was no mere nodding acquaintance—they were good brothers who had fought together on the battlefield.

"What do you mean, long time no see? Do you never leave the house?" The newcomer looked at Uchiha Shingen irritably. "Why didn't you attend the clan meeting a few days ago?"

"There was no need, was there? I'll follow whatever arrangements are made." Uchiha Shingen sounded utterly unconcerned.

Clan meetings were no different from workplace meetings in his life before the last one.

Everything was discussed beforehand, then finalized at the meeting.

The Uchiha were a bit more straightforward, but it was basically the same.

"This isn't about following arrangements." Uchiha Tekka found this older clansman of his rather exasperating.

This guy was only a few years older than him, yet his personality was completely unlike an Uchiha's.

Brother, could you be just a little more hot-tempered?

Even the truly elderly shinobi in the clan weren't this calm. The older they got, the more fired up they became. Every meeting, those old foxes were always the most energetic ones.

"What matters is this. Internal unity is the most important thing," Uchiha Shingen said.

"What if it's wrong?" Uchiha Tekka clearly disagreed.

"When has this world ever had right or wrong?" Uchiha Shingen looked at him strangely. "Whatever the strong do is right."

That was his genuine belief. At the same time, he was certain that what Uchiha Tekka understood was definitely not the same thing.

You could tell from his expression.

Even singing flower songs wouldn't produce an expression like that.

"I understand what you mean now." Uchiha Tekka looked deeply gratified. "Everyone's getting together tonight. You can't skip it this time."

"The clan's situation is poor. I need to train more so I can contribute to the clan." Uchiha Shingen refused with a straight face. "I'm a respectable man. I don't go to those messy sorts of places."

Uchiha Tekka got angry. "You're such a pain! Fine, I'll call a few more for you, okay?!"

"Which place tonight?" Uchiha Shingen felt rather embarrassed. How could he reject the bond of comradeship forged between Tekka and himself on the battlefield? "Although I don't understand what you're saying, my clan's teachings won't allow me to freeload. Let's split the bill."

Uchiha Tekka rolled his eyes, gave him the name of the place, and left.

Uchiha Shingen turned around to find that the clansman who had registered his report earlier was now looking at him strangely.

That put him on alert.

"Is there a problem?"

"The place your friend booked is indeed quite good. They just got a new batch of tea a few days ago." The middle-aged clansman spoke with envy. "The only downside is that it's too expensive."

"Sorry, I have no idea what you're talking about. If there's nothing else, I'm heading back. I still need to train." After saying that expressionlessly, Uchiha Shingen immediately used the Body Flicker Technique and fled.

"Huh?" The middle-aged clansman stared blankly at the empty air before him. "Are young people these days all this hardworking?"

After thinking about it, he could not help but sigh with emotion.

During this war, quite a number of outstanding young Uchiha had emerged. Uchiha Shingen, who had just left, was one of them, but the middle-aged clansman had not expected the young man to still work so hard.

As expected of one of the clan's renowned training fanatics!

Sure enough, success never came by luck!

The Uchiha's future would depend on young people like him!

As he thought this, Uchiha Shingen had already returned home.

He should have mooched a meal at the department cafeteria, but clearly he could not stay there any longer. There was no helping it.

How could Tekka talk about something so secretive in such an unsecretive way?

Young and inexperienced, after all.

He entered the kitchen, skillfully made himself some egg fried rice, and wolfed it down before heading to the clan grounds' training field to begin his training.

The Uchiha training grounds were huge. They had plenty of land, after all, and it was not simply an open field with a few targets set up. This place was more like a sports complex on Blue Star, with both outdoor and indoor facilities, along with numerous specialized setups, such as training rooms specifically for honing the Sharingan.

As usual, he began by practicing shuriken manipulation and taijutsu, followed by training his Sharingan, and finally ninjutsu.

Perhaps because this was his second transmigration, aside from the fire nature that every Uchiha was born with, he also possessed the water and wind nature transformations he had had during his first transmigration.

He had been relentlessly training those three ever since.

For the time being, he had no plans to put in the effort to acquire new nature transformations.

For one thing, these were already enough. For another, he did not have any extra time.

The ninja culture of the Naruto world revolved around one word: "speed."
