While Zarbon and Vegeta were fighting, Krillin finally trudged forward with difficulty and appeared amidst the blue mountains the Grand Elder had mentioned.
"We're here... According to the Grand Elder, Indra should be in this area." Krillin looked excited as he spread out his senses.
At such a short distance, he should be able to sense Bulma's energy.
"Over there! It's not far! Just over 300 meters." Krillin flew into the air.
After Indra and Bulma had some snacks, he moved the spaceship over.
"Are we leaving now, Brother-in-law?" Bulma asked.
"Let's go. If you stay, your life could be in danger." Indra nodded.
"Even if I'm in danger, you'll save me, right, Brother-in-law?" Bulma giggled.
"Don't fool around. If the planet is gone, I won't be able to save you either." Indra shook his head. "If you end up in space, you'll turn straight into a popsicle."
"Ah... Brother-in-law! You're awful!" Bulma snapped.
"Although I could find a way to revive you with the Dragon Balls, nobody wants to die, right?" Indra said.
"Fine, let's go." Bulma nodded and stopped fussing. "Destination: the planet Yardrat near Planet Namek!"
Smack!
Bulma pressed the launch button on the spaceship.
Whoosh!
The spaceship shot into the sky and vanished in an instant under Krillin's gaze.
Krillin: "..."
"Indra! Where are you going?!" Krillin's eyes widened as he stared at the vanished spaceship, utterly dumbfounded.
Indra had left Planet Namek?
What was that supposed to mean?
Krillin couldn't make sense of it at all.
This was bad!
Things had gone terribly wrong.
What was he supposed to do?
Why had they left?
Were they going back to Earth?
Then... what about Gohan and him?
Krillin was on the verge of tears.
What a trap.
"I'd better hurry back and report this to the Grand Elder." Krillin was depressed to death.
Frieza's spaceship.
Vegeta, who was undergoing treatment, suddenly opened his eyes.
Boom!
Vegeta blasted out with a Galick Gun and made off with the five Dragon Balls stored in the spaceship.
When Frieza realized what had happened, he flew into a rage and immediately ordered Zarbon to take men and search for the Dragon Balls, as well as Vegeta's whereabouts.
Vegeta couldn't have been happier.
He never expected to snatch the five Dragon Balls Frieza had painstakingly collected so easily.
That meant that, together with the one Dragon Ball he had, only one more was needed to complete the set.
Excellent.
His luck was truly incredible.
Vegeta first dug a hole and buried Frieza's five Dragon Balls.
Vegeta silently looked over.
At present, only Zarbon and one of Frieza's underlings were searching for him.
Frieza was quite far from here.
Vegeta casually picked up a stone and tossed it into the distance.
"Over there!"
Zarbon and that underling sped toward the direction where Vegeta had thrown the stone.
But when they got there, there was nothing at all.
"We've been tricked!" Zarbon snarled.
BOOM!
As he spoke, Zarbon discovered that one of his underlings beside him had been killed on the spot.
Vegeta's figure slowly emerged, smiling at Zarbon across from him.
"Vegeta! Hand over the Dragon Ball! I can ask Lord Frieza to go easy on you," Zarbon roared.
"Zarbon, you really don't understand us Saiyans." Vegeta smiled faintly.
"What do you mean?" Zarbon froze.
"A Saiyan's fighting power doubles if he's healed after being on the brink of death." Vegeta beamed.
"What did you say?" Zarbon's expression changed.
"You'll find out soon enough!" Vegeta sneered.
BOOM!
Vegeta killed Zarbon on the spot.
Krillin, covered in wounds, returned to the Elder's residence.
"Krillin, I'll heal you." Dende stepped forward and healed Krillin's injuries with his healing ability.
"Dende, you're amazing!" Krillin exclaimed in surprise and delight, then explained what had happened.
"What? Indra has left Namek?" After hearing Krillin's account, the Elder's expression changed slightly. He then sighed softly. "Then it seems my premonition was correct. Namek may very well face utter destruction... My people... my people will almost certainly..."
"Elder... I have an idea. Give us your Dragon Ball, and we can revive Earth's Dragon Balls," Krillin suggested. "If Earth's Dragon Balls are revived, we can bring the dead Namekians back to life."
The Elder's eyes lit up. He nodded gently and reached out to take the One-Star Dragon Ball from his seat.
"Take it, Earthling. I wish you luck." The Elder handed the Dragon Ball to Krillin, then unlocked Son Gohan's latent energy.
Son Gohan and Krillin temporarily left to search for more Dragon Balls.
"Uncle Krillin, look, there's a Dragon Ball here." Son Gohan pointed at one of the Dragon Balls on the Dragon Radar.
"Gohan, take the Dragon Radar and find that Dragon Ball. I'll find somewhere to hide the one we have. That way, even if we run into Frieza's group, they won't be able to take us out in one sweep," Krillin suggested. "When the time comes, I'll release my energy to tell you where I am."
"Yes, Uncle Krillin." Son Gohan nodded.
Krillin and Son Gohan split up.
Not long after Krillin flew off carrying the Elder's Dragon Ball, Vegeta sensed his energy.
"That's the energy of that bald guy from Earth. What's he wandering around for? I've got nothing better to do anyway. Might as well go take a look." After pondering for a moment, Vegeta immediately took to the sky and flew toward Krillin.
Before long, the two met in midair.
Krillin trembled all over in fright.
Why did I run into Vegeta again?
"Baldy, not bad. You actually got yourself a Dragon Ball?" Vegeta could not have been happier.
I was just trying my luck.
Who would've thought I'd finally find the last Dragon Ball!
Great!
This is fantastic!
Am I, Vegeta, finally going to fulfill my dream of becoming a Super Saiyan?
"If you don't want to die, hand over the Dragon Ball." Vegeta looked at Krillin with a smile.
Krillin gritted his teeth and handed the Dragon Ball to Vegeta.
"Very good." Vegeta burst into laughter.
But soon, Vegeta stopped laughing and warily scanned his surroundings.
Indra doesn't seem to be around, does he?
I should get out of here fast.
WHOOSH!
Holding the Dragon Ball, Vegeta sped toward the place where the last Dragon Ball was being kept.
As he flew, Vegeta suddenly sensed a faint energy ahead that had abruptly been concealed.
What's going on?
I can sense it—someone ahead has definitely hidden their energy.
Deliberately avoiding me!
"Who is it? Get out here, now! Otherwise, I'll level this entire area!" Vegeta shouted, gathering an energy blast in his hand.
"It's me... Don't attack yet..." Son Gohan hid the Dragon Ball he had found with the Dragon Radar and stepped out from a hill below.
"It's you?" Vegeta glanced at Son Gohan. "You came with that bald guy, didn't you?"
"Ah... y-yes... The one you're holding... is Uncle Krillin's Dragon Ball!" Son Gohan was alarmed. "Did you kill Uncle Krillin?"
"If you want me to kill him, it's not too late for me to go back now." Vegeta smiled.
Son Gohan breathed a sigh of relief.
"What's that thing in your hand?" Vegeta glanced at the Dragon Radar Son Gohan was holding.
"Huh?" Son Gohan jumped in fright and hurriedly answered, "This... this is a watch."
"You even brought a watch with such low-level technology to this planet?" Vegeta did not suspect a thing. Grinning broadly, he continued, "Heh heh heh. Go back and tell Indra that I've gathered the final Dragon Ball. Once I've made my wish, I'll have a good talk with him."
Son Gohan cast a sideways glance at the Dragon Ball hidden behind him.
You're really amusing.
Do you really think you've gathered all the Dragon Balls?
"While you're at it, tell Kakarot that among the Saiyans, only a few of us remain," Vegeta said with a smile.
Bang!
Vegeta kicked Son Gohan to the ground.
Whoosh!
Vegeta flew swiftly toward the location of the final Dragon Ball.
However, when Vegeta dove to the bottom of the lake, he could not find the Dragon Ball he had hidden there earlier, no matter how hard he looked.
