The First Seat gave the order.
"Everyone—battle formation!"
Except for the holder of Downfall of Castle and Country, everyone moved at once.
They did not scatter, but converged. Like meteors gathering into a single point of light, they charged toward Higashino Makoto with the First Seat as their spearhead.
The Eighth Seat, Myriad Barriers, was at the forefront. His two enormous shields were like moving iron walls, sealing off every route Higashino Makoto could use to evade.
The Ninth Seat, Edgar, was behind him, chains slithering through the air like spirit serpents, ready to coil around their target at any moment.
The others each took different positions. Some flanked from the sides, some provided support from the air, while others covered from the ground.
It was a perfect encirclement formation, drilled countless times and designed specifically to kill a powerful lone enemy.
