"As for acquired spirit treasures, like innate spirit treasures, they are measured by the number of innate spirit prohibitions they contain!"
"Only, innate spirit treasures possess one more thing than acquired spirit treasures: an undying innate spiritual radiance."
By the time Yellow Dragon finally awoke from that vast, sea-like torrent of information, several months had already passed. Rubbing his throbbing head, he said with a bitter smile, "As expected of the legacy left behind by a Sage. If my cultivation had not reached the Golden Immortal realm, and my Primordial Spirit had not become imperishable, I would not even have been qualified to receive the inheritance."
Yellow Dragon stood quietly for a moment. Looking at the tightly shut doors of Jade Pure Palace, he solemnly bowed in their direction.
"This disciple shall diligently cultivate the Great Dao and never fail the kindness of Master's teachings."
With that, he rode a streak of escaping light through the clouds and sped toward his own dojo, the Five Elements Grotto-Heaven.
Before long, the familiar aura of heaven and earth entered his Primordial Spirit.
Beneath the clouds, a Five Elements grand formation appeared before Yellow Dragon. Five-colored streams of light circulated without end, like an enormous canopy that slowly revolved, harmonizing the five elements.
At a thought from Yellow Dragon, the Five Elements grand formation blanketing the land slowly revealed a passage the height of a man. His escaping light passed nimbly through it, and the passage closed behind him.
The moment he entered the grotto-heaven, clouds and mist formed from innate spiritual qi rushed toward him, carrying the faint fragrance of grass and trees. His spirits lifted, and even the ache in his head eased somewhat.
For the moment, he had no mood to admire the beauty of the grotto-heaven.
Yellow Dragon swiftly descended, landing in the courtyard halfway up Enlightenment Peak. He took out a reclining chair, placed it beneath the Enlightenment Tea Tree, and fell into a deep sleep.
Having just sensed her master's return, Ziling shot over from Spirit Herb Peak like a violet streak of light. She landed beside the Enlightenment Tea Tree, looked at the sleeping Yellow Dragon, then turned and left. Only, the sound of bees beating their wings throughout the grotto-heaven became so faint it could barely be heard.
As the sun rose and moon fell, three years slipped by in Yellow Dragon's dreams.
Ziling, who often came to see whether Yellow Dragon had awakened, had only just arrived beside Enlightenment Peak when she saw that the gates to the courtyard had opened. A figure in yellow robes stood at the entrance, gazing into the distance.
Seeing Ziling, Yellow Dragon beckoned to her. Flapping her wings, Ziling landed beside him. Her radiance withdrew, revealing a young girl in a long violet gauze dress.
She was petite and delicately beautiful. The pair of nearly transparent wings on her back still swayed in the breeze, scattering specks of crystalline violet light.
"Master, you've finally awakened!" Ziling curtsied gracefully, her clear, melodious voice brimming with unconcealed delight.
"Earlier, when I sensed the grotto-heaven formation stir, I knew Master had returned. But the moment you came back, you fell asleep."
Yellow Dragon nodded slightly and raised a hand in a gesture of support. "No need for such formalities. Ziling, you and your people have worked hard these past years."
"Not hard at all, not hard at all. This place is far better than outside."
"Where else would there be so many immortal herbs and spirit medicines for the bee swarm to gather flowers and brew honey from?"
"Look, Master—my swarm has grown so much, and my cultivation has reached the late Heavenly Immortal realm!" Ziling rose, her eyes curving into crescents as she pointed at the violet motes darting among the mountain flowers, then at herself.
"While Master was away from the mountain, everything within the grotto-heaven remained well. Under our bee swarm's care, the flowers of all kinds of spirit plants have grown increasingly fragrant, and the honey brewed from their pollen has become better and better."
As she spoke, a jade bottle carved from jade appeared in Ziling's hands. She held it before Yellow Dragon with both hands.
Yellow Dragon took the jade bottle and gently removed its stopper. A rich honey fragrance wafted out. Looking at the honey inside, white as jade, he scooped out a portion and placed it in his mouth. The lush fragrance of a hundred flowers instantly blossomed over his tongue, accompanied by a gentle power that nourished his body.
Not bad. It could even provide a trace of nourishment to his Golden Immortal body—this honey was clearly extraordinary.
If Ziling's cultivation rose further, the honey she brewed would become even more effective.
"Mm, not bad. Very good!" Yellow Dragon praised.
At Yellow Dragon's praise, Ziling's lips lifted high, and her eyes narrowed into two clear crescent moons.
"Unfortunately, it contains too little medicinal potency. You must cultivate diligently before you can brew even better spirit honey."
Ziling raised both fists, her face solemn as she vowed, "I will definitely cultivate diligently and brew spirit honey that will be useful to Master as soon as possible!"
Yellow Dragon swept his gaze over the immortal grasses and spirit medicines, all of which had been tended with great care. Their age had clearly increased considerably, while their spirituality and medicinal power far surpassed what they once had been. "Take me for a walk."
"Yes, Master. Please follow me."
Ziling led the way. Descending Enlightenment Peak, they first arrived at the Blood Jujube Orchard to the south.
Blood-red jujube trees stood tall and imposing. Their branches were densely laden with crimson spirit jujubes, red as blood. Each was plump and round, as large as a fist, with crystal-clear skins that seemed to contain flowing blood. They exuded a rich, sweet, exotic fragrance that made one's mouth water.
"Master, these blood jujubes ripen only once every ten years. They happened to ripen this year, and there are far more fruits than before. The blood and qi essence within them also far exceeds that of the past," Ziling explained from the side.
Yellow Dragon nodded. His mother-tree spirit root only produced a batch every three hundred years. These were merely second-generation plants, not worthy of being called spirit roots, yet they were still top-grade spirit medicines.
He reached out and plucked two fully ripe fruits. His fingertips felt a slight heat. Placing one in his mouth and lightly biting down, a warm current instantly spread through him, nourishing his limbs and every bone in his body. He nodded in praise. "Not bad. The medicinal potency is pure and substantial. You have all put your hearts into this."
He tossed the other blood jujube in his hand to Ziling. "You should have one too."
Ziling put the blood jujube into her mouth. As its medicinal potency circulated through her body, her aura strengthened by a trace.
Afterward, the two rode auspicious clouds to Spirit Herb Peak, where spirit medicines covered the ground. Strange flowers and exotic grasses scattered across the mountain breathed out their fragrance. In the newly cultivated spirit fields, thousand-year ginseng and fleeceflower root grew in clusters, while spirit medicines aged ten thousand years each occupied a medicinal field of their own.
After touring Spirit Herb Peak, they arrived at Lotus Peak to the north.
Halfway up the mountain lay a small lotus pond with clear, spiritual water. A faint white rosy glow lingered above its surface, carrying an aura of holiness and purity. A white lotus stood tall and graceful within it.
It was the young lotus Yellow Dragon had planted back then. Several emerald-green lotus leaves, each as large as a canopy, spread across the water's surface, and pure Dao patterns seemed to flow through their veins.
A stalk like carved white jade rose from the water, its tip bearing a white lotus bud yet to bloom. Its petals were tightly closed, yet wisps of Dao rhyme drifted through them and spread over the lotus pond.
Fine strands of white Dao patterns extended from the flower bud, disappearing into the void and resonating with this stretch of heaven and earth.
"That white lotus has actually grown to such a state!"
A flash of surprise crossed Yellow Dragon's eyes. He crouched and scooped up a handful of pond water. The water was extraordinarily clear and cool to the touch. A pure force faintly seeped through his skin, bringing even his Golden Immortal-level Primordial Spirit a trace of clarity.
"This pond water, nurtured by the white lotus, has actually gained threads of pure cleansing power. It can wash away filth, purify magical power, and eliminate the impurities of inner demons!"
"Exactly so!" Ziling said. "Though this white lotus grows slowly, its aura has become ever stronger, and before I knew it, it had influenced the entire pond. I often drink this spirit water. My spiritual radiance becomes clear, and my cultivation speed has increased greatly as well!"
Yellow Dragon thought for a moment, then said, "Mm. Then let it be called Pure Lotus Spirit Liquid."
