After some idle chatter, the time soon approached the ten o'clock Future Trunks had mentioned.
Piccolo was the first to notice someone approaching, though the newcomer's energy did not feel evil. Moments later, an aircraft came into view. Sitting in its cockpit was none other than Yajirobe, the man who treated Senzu Beans as snacks and had nearly eaten himself into becoming a rare species.
At the sight of him, Goku's face lit up. "Are you here to fight with us?"
Yajirobe did not answer. He walked straight up to Goku and handed him a cloth bag. "Take it. A special gift from Korin—the Senzu Beans."
Goku took the heavy bag of Senzu Beans, beaming. "Great! Just what I'd expect from Korin. He's so thoughtful!"
But after handing over the beans, Yajirobe immediately turned and left. He climbed back into the aircraft's cockpit without hesitation and started the engine. Goku hurriedly called after him, "Yajirobe, aren't you going to fight with us?"
"Give me a break." Yajirobe did not even look back. "I'm not like you idiots. I want to live a few more years. See you. Take care of yourselves."
With that, the aircraft rose into the air and slowly departed the way it had come.
As everyone watched the aircraft disappear into the distance, Tien Shinhan spoke first, his tone carrying a hint of confusion. "Don't you find this strange? Ten o'clock passed a while ago, but I still haven't sensed any enemy energy at all."
Yamcha immediately added, "I think that kid was just talking nonsense. How could something like androids really exist?"
Bulma glanced down at the watch on her wrist. "He said ten o'clock. It's only ten fifteen now, so we can't jump to conclusions yet."
Yamcha had long been accustomed to locating enemies by their energy, and he remained unconvinced. "But even now, I can't sense even a trace of anything remotely strong. If those two androids really are that powerful, we should be able to sense them no matter where they are..."
Before he could finish, a blinding burst of fire suddenly erupted in the distant sky. Yajirobe's aircraft exploded in midair. A massive fireball billowed with thick black smoke as broken wreckage plummeted straight toward the sea.
Everyone abruptly looked up, their expressions changing at once.
"W-What happened?"
"It's Yajirobe!"
Piccolo fixed a sharp gaze on the site of the explosion and shouted, "Look! There's something there. They did this!"
Before the smoke had even cleared, two hazy figures stood suspended in midair. Then they rapidly descended and disappeared into the bustling city below.
Everyone rushed to the cliff's edge, anxiously searching among the city's buildings. Krillin turned to Goku, the strongest among them. "Goku, did you see them?"
Goku's eyes swept rapidly across the entire city, his voice especially grave. "No. I couldn't see what they looked like at all, and I can't sense their energy either. Could those two... be the androids?"
Gohan voiced the suspicion in his heart. "Because they're androids, they don't have the energy of living beings. That's why we can't sense them!"
"What did you say?" Yamcha turned back in shock.
To people who had long relied on energy to identify and detect enemies, this news struck like a bolt from the blue. From now on, they could only search with their eyes. Yet the city before them was enormous and packed with high-rises. Finding two human-shaped targets would be like searching for a needle in a haystack.
"Where are they? Where the hell are they hiding?"
"Damn it..."
Krillin and Yamcha gradually grew restless. Piccolo, however, remained calm and composed. "Since we can't judge by energy, we can only search one place at a time with our eyes."
"Alright! We'll split up and search." Goku quickly made up his mind. Turning around, he tossed the bag of Senzu Beans to Bulma. "Bulma, keep this safe for me."
His expression hardened as he gave them a serious warning. "Remember, do not chase them too deeply on your own. The moment you find them, notify everyone immediately. Gohan, go check on Yajirobe first. He should still be alive."
With that, Piccolo let out a low shout. "Let's go." Everyone used Flight at once, scattering toward the city below.
Goku landed atop a tall building, his eyes constantly sweeping over the streets and crowds below as his brow furrowed tightly. "Damn it... Where are they? Where are they hiding?"
Elsewhere in the city, the two androids finally revealed their true appearances.
One was short, fat, and round, with pale pinkish-white skin that shone like plastic. His mouth was permanently stretched into a comical grin, making him look uncannily like a bizarre ceramic lucky cat figurine. The other was a shriveled, gaunt old man with long white hair and a beard. He wore an orange loose-sleeved shirt and a black hat emblazoned with the Red Ribbon Army's R symbol.
The two began slaughtering and destroying everything on a street. People continually died at their hands, and a merciless massacre began.
Cries and screams rose one after another as scarlet blood gradually stained the pavement. Looking at the hellish scene before her, a young woman could no longer suppress her fear and let out a piercing shriek.
Yamcha, who was closest to the scene, felt his heart tighten upon hearing it. He had long forgotten Goku's warning not to chase too far, and immediately rushed toward the source of the scream.
As he rapidly drew near, the elderly-looking Android 20 was the first to detect the unusual energy through the energy-scanning device built into his eyes.
"A human with an extremely high energy level is approaching... Could the detection system be malfunctioning?"
The short, fat android slowly approached as well and said in a deep voice, "It is not a malfunction, Android 20. I detected the same energy signature."
"But this energy reading has already surpassed the limits of ordinary humans."
"Then our luck is good. We found our target directly. It should be Goku."
The two figures instantly rose into the sky. Moments later, Yamcha came into their sight.
"No." The short, fat android quickly compared him against the data stored in his mind. "Not Goku. His appearance and build do not match. There is a ninety-six percent probability that this person is Yamcha."
Android 20's tone remained flat. "Even if he is not Goku, absorbing his energy will replenish a considerable amount of combat power."
At that moment, Yamcha was crouching on the ground, checking on the victims. Completely unaware that the two strange figures had silently landed behind him, he slowly rose to his feet, turned toward them, and instinctively asked, "Did you see who attacked this place?"
The moment the words left his mouth, he caught sight of the familiar mark on the old man's hat—the Red Ribbon Army's R insignia.
Yamcha's pupils suddenly contracted. A warning rang through his mind as he instantly leaped backward and assumed a fighting stance, about to call for help.
In the next instant, Android 20 had already appeared in front of him. One hand clamped tightly over his mouth. The red energy-absorption device in his palm activated at once, continuously draining the energy from Yamcha's body. Yamcha's body instantly went limp, and he collapsed straight down.
Everything that happened was seen clearly by Malvis, who was leisurely eating in a nearby restaurant.
