"Mother, here, wipe your mouth."
"Please have some water."
"Let me cut it for you."
Though she was sitting right across from them at the same table, Camellia could only silently endure the scene before her. Even the food in her mouth had lost its flavor.
"If possible, please leave tonight's dinner to me." And just like that, Lilith naturally snatched away the work that should have belonged to Camellia today.
As she said this, she gave Camellia a meaningful look, her soft, translucent lips moving a few times.
"Don't compare your ability to serve someone with a succubus, whether at the table or in bed." Camellia read Lilith's lips. Of course, there was another sentence as well. "Big Sister is welcome to give it a try too."
And now, during dinner, Aya had given high praise to the meal Lilith had prepared.
Though she had not expressed it in words, seeing the look on Mother's face as she enjoyed the food was enough for Camellia to be certain.
"Camellia's cooking is delicious too." Though Aya's consolation moved her with Mother's tolerance and gentleness, it was also powerful proof that her skills fell short.
"Big Sister has truly worked hard taking care of Mother until now," Lilith said slowly, but Camellia heard the unspoken meaning behind her words—just leave it to me from now on. You're no longer needed.
"It really isn't bad, at least judging by dinner," Camellia replied calmly.
You're only good at making dinner. It's nothing worth mentioning. That's what you mean, isn't it? Lilith narrowed her eyes.
"But it's an important foundation, isn't it? (If you can't even handle something this trivial, do you really think you can do anything else?)"
"A foundation? I find it rather trivial. After all, there are more important things to do. (It's merely servant work, so don't get too proud.)"
"That's true. We should both strive together in other matters as well, Big Sister. (You've already lost in this matter. Hehe.)"
The two traded remarks back and forth, leaving Aya thoroughly confused.
Had these two become so close already?
More importantly, what was going on with Preya? She had been silent for nearly the entire day. Aya turned her gaze toward the beast-eared mage girl, who had not said a single word since morning, all the way until sunset.
"Mother." Perhaps sensing Aya's gaze, Preya finally spoke. Her voice was low, and her eyes were dull.
"Why? Why is it like this?" Preya revealed a miserable smile.
"Why are both my older sister and younger sister so well-endowed? Why? I'm Mother's daughter too!"
The entire room fell into a baffling silence. Whether it was Camellia, towering like a mountain peak; Lilith, shapely and beautiful, living up to the name of a succubus; or Aya, all-embracing like a mother goddess, none of the three knew how to comfort the dejected girl.
"Maybe because Camellia, your twin sister, stole all your nutrition?" After nearly a minute of silence, Lilith cautiously spoke.
"Camellia, compensate me!"
"Huh? What does that have to do with me? Don't just pin the blame on me!"
Watching the scene unfold before her, Aya could not help but laugh.
Is this what family is? Aya thought.
In her previous life, Aya's only family had been her brother, who was ten years older than her. Yet she had rarely experienced what people called familial affection from him.
He had been very busy, especially before her first onset. Nearly every meeting consisted only of her brother assigning tasks and her reporting the results. Rather than family, they were more like a superior and employee—or a master and a tool.
