Chapter 27: Moon's Shadow
The table gradually filled with plates of food.
A plate was placed in front of everyone, each holding a freshly grilled steak that glistened with juices and gave off a rich aroma. Mashed potatoes mixed with sugar and honey were served on the side, while the accompanying meal boxes contained several pieces of soft white bread and a vegetable salad with various dressings.
At the center of the table were grilled fish and fruit, along with a pot of corn chowder that had yet to be served.
It wasn't particularly luxurious, but the meal was well-balanced, generously portioned, and prepared with impeccable hygiene.
Though the food still couldn't compare to the dishes made by Lilith, the succubus girl with the Chef profession, it was already a very good dinner.

"Dinner's on us this time," said the female mage across from her, a woman named Monica.
Aya had learned her name on the way here.
"In other countries, adventurers of our rank probably wouldn't be able to casually eat a dinner this nice." Monica shared a piece of information that caught Aya's attention.

As she spoke, she complained about how adventurers were treated in other countries, especially the Empire.
Adventurers were combatants responsible for driving off monsters. They ought to be heroes people relied on, but the reality wasn't so simple.
